Incredible burrito 🌯

The burrito here is amazing! You can customize the way you want. They don't charge extra for guac if you sub sour cream/cheese. I've tried both their breakfast and regular option. While the breakfast option is a little cheaper you don't get rice when ordering a breakfast burrito.

Best Vegan Breakfast Burrito for $5

If you've never been to Illegal Pete's, you should visit this location over the one on 38th and go in expecting a Chipotle style burrito. What sets them apart is their fantastic breakfast option.

Breakfast is the most affordable time to go if you're planning to get a fully loaded vegan burrito. Luckily, they serve breakfast on the weekends until 1pm, so you can even get the "breakfast" burrito for lunch. Our go to order is potatoes, sub beans in place of egg, veggies, vegan green chili (don't miss this!), pico, corn salsa, and "sub guac" (if you don't get sour cream or cheese, you can sub guac for free). There are plenty more toppings to choose from, so build your own adventure :)

If you go outside breakfast hours, you can still customize to get the burrito mentioned above, but it'll cost you an extra $3-4. It's silly, but outside breakfast a potato burrito is more than a rice burrito. We always opt for potatoes over rice because the rice simply can't compete... it's subpar compared to Chipotle's rice.

Bonus Tip: If you're not feeling too hungry, you can get a kid size and save yourself a bit of money.

Pros: Big burritos, Customizable to your taste preferences, Free guac in place of cheese and sour cream

Cons: Sometimes inconsistent seasonings, Can be messy if not wrapped well

A solid, affordable option for vegetarians and vegans

Illegal Pete's is a staple for the front range in CO; a Punk Rock Chipotle, if you will. I had never eaten here before, but my wife and I were in the neighborhood, so we decided to try it, after driving by several locations in the past. It was a good choice; affordable and tasty, with large portions. It's an easy place to get relatively healthy, satisfying vegan meal for a decent price. Bonus: if you don't get cheese, guacamole is FREE!!! Score!

Pros: Affordable, Filling Portion sizes (Burrito at least), Free Guacamole, if you don't get cheese

Cons: It get's busy at lunch time., Not to be an old man, but turn the music down.

Burritos

It was fine. Not a very exciting menu but if you're looking for a quick and filling lunch burrito or nachos this hits the spot. Order at counter and you can select exactly which fillings you want, Subway style. There are tables inside and out and a separate bar area serving beers and cocktails.
