Serves meat, vegan options available. Casual open-air restaurant at the Grand Hyatt with several vegan options clearly marked on the lunch menu, including a hummus wrap and the Beyond burger. Open Mon-Sun 6:00am-2:00pm.
We came here for lunch, twice. I typically ovoid higher end hotels, opting for mom n pop stops. We were on a long hike that ended here at lunch time on a hot day. We gave it a shot and lived large. Think of it: they have chefs who are well trained and can navigate vegan and further accommodations more knowledgably perhaps, and service is held to a standard. So this place made us incredible food, the musubi was fantastic, the flatbread hummus with mushrooms as well. The tofu sandwich was great and the sides as well. The poblano quesadilla, either had no actual queso or was made vegan for us and they enjoyed that. Drinks: best drinks we had on island, for less. Our first visit, we spent much less on lunch than at places that charged a lot more for lesser quality. So if visiting, I suggest going early to establish a good value: cost ratio. We came the next day as well.
The place is stunning: swans in a pond, ocean view, calm and quiet.
We wanted a nice sit down breakfast and they delivered. One of the better restaurant tofu scrambles I’ve had, very flavorful with lots of good veggies included. Also you can’t beat the view. Inside the Grand Hyatt Resort. Service was excellent and we added toast and a bagel to each of our plates and were not charged extra. They do have a buffet which would likely work for vegetarians but as vegans we ordered off menu. Multiple choices on menu included tofu scramble, steel cut oats, avocado toast, fresh fruits and juices, bagels.
Yes, it’s $22. Yes, you’re on Kauai. Enjoy yourself at this lovely restaurant at the Grand Hyatt, and if you are looking for a cheaper protein fix, drive down Poipu Road to Bubba’s for a fast-food Beyond burger closer to $8. (If you do this, you will not have an ocean view or a cloth napkin. You will have a sticky table and possibly overflowing trash cans around you. But sometimes that’s totally what the doctor ordered.)
They are happy to give you a vegan bun, as the regular bun is brioche. It comes with avocado and is piled high with toppings. If you’re a Hyatt explorist, don’t forget you get 20% off here!
Comes with fries. They also have a hummus wrap, but you can get that almost anywhere on Kauai.
They have the Beyond Burger will all the fixings, which was quite tasty. They even have a dedicated gluten-free fryer for fries — since none of the breaded animal products go in this fryer, it's essentially a vegan fryer as well and they will cook your fries in there if you ask.
