It had something actually vegan on the menu - Edit
I had such a hard time finding vegan food at a non-vegans restaurant here. Lots of places popped up on Happy Cow, but several had bad reviews or said there weren't actually vegan options on here.
Read moreThis place was very friendly and accommodating. I was here for work and my coworkers didn't want me to eat alone, but also refused to eat at a fully vegan restaurant. So it was up to me to find something we could all eat at and so many places I went to were not able to make vegan food.
Il vizietto did a great job. The Caponata was already vegan because it was apples, veggies, and didn't have any cheese or animal products in it. They also had fresh bread and a garden salad that weren't mentioned on the menu, but they brought me anyway.
I know it isn't a lot of food and it isn't the most exciting meal, but trying to find somewhere that has a bit of something for everyone is proving to be impossible in Palermo if you are looking for Italian cuisine. Of course I wanted to go to a Lebanese restaurant, but my coworkers and I had never been to this part of Italy so they wanted something more authentic to the area.
Anyway the Caponata was really yummy. It was apples and vegetables and had a nice savory and tangy flavor. The salad was very basic with olive oil as a dressing, but it was also fresh. I liked the bread too. I never really felt full and I would really have liked to have some tofu or something fulfilling, but it was good in a pinch.
I gave it 3 Stars because the atmosphere was great and the people working there were friendly and accommodating. The food was decent and at least they had something to offer.
I probably will never come here again though because next time I'm just going to go somewhere fully vegan.
