Love their Vegan Sandwiches & Santa Cruz Location is By Far the Best! - Edit
Today, I thanked Hugo (at the Santa Cruz location) for the wonderful job he and the other workers do at this location, and I'm expressing my feedback after coming to the realization on the vast difference between the Santa Cruz Ike's location and other Bay Area locations (but mainly the 'Westgate' [5385 Prospect Rd] location).
Read moreI was VERY "turned off" on wanting another sandwich from Ike's after my last experience with the Westgate location. However, after thinking about how I feel when I visit the Santa Cruz location, I decided to go back today and was very happy to receive the positive experience I always have here.
My go-to order is the 'Sometimes I'm a Vegetarian', made vegan, with vegan chicken. Every single time I have ordered from the Westgate location, they have _never_ made it vegan (I know because I always get the green pesto, which from my understanding is NOT vegan, and this also makes me question if the rest of the sandwich is made vegan). Overall, I'm just VERY disappointed with the service from the Westgate location and likely won't go back unless things change up.
The Santa Cruz location is by far the cleanest location I've been to - consistently, and I have been to multiple locations throughout the Bay Area. The customer service is wonderful here (e.g., I don't need the employees here to do it, but when they can, they will walk over and hand me my food). For the past many months that I have been visiting this location, I'll usually see Hugo there, who is a big reason for why I go back (he consistently delivers the great experience I'm expressing here, remembers my usual order, and always has a great attitude!).

I ordered the Helen Keller sandwich, with vegan steak, vegan cheese, and vegan sauce/vegan mayo. However, she wasn't sure if the fried onion rings were vegan, but I let it slide since it's my once a week cheat day. The bbq sauce was so flavorful, overall an excellent indulgent vegan treat, I'm super satisfied.

Consistent quality from chain - Edit
Vegan options with a quality that is consistent with this chain. Plenty of choices for everyone. Parking is atrocious though. Spaces are smaller than the average car and it's a popular at lunch so it can be impossible to not get hit. Hence, I tend to avoid this location or order delivery. The restroom is always broken.

This place is deliciously dope! Back in my days of eating meat, my favorite sandwich was turkey with cranberry and mayo. Whaddaya know, Ike's rolls through with a veggie version called The Pilgrim, which can easily be made vegan. The vegan turkey was smokey and the texture was on point. To make it vegan, opt for the vegan cheese (Daiya Mozz I believe) and their vegan signature garlic sauce! Can't wait to come back and try more sammies from this veg-friendly spot.

Love this place, the vegans options are great and the sandwich names are really fun😄 Vegan cheese and garlic mayo are really good. Whole restaurant is a super fun, loving environment, I wish I could go there more often.

I'm so happy Ike's has opened in Santa Cruz! - Edit
I had been to Ike's in Davis before and was so happy to hear that they were coming to Santa Cruz. They just opened here in the past week.
Read moreThey have a huge vegan selection and are knowledgeable about what being vegan means. This evening they only had the wheat roll which I attribute to them figuring out what they need in their Santa Cruz location. At any rate, after I ordered, one of the employees came up to me to tell me that the roll wasn't vegan because it contained honey. I was okay with this because although I usually avoid honey, I can deal with it in my bread like on this occasion.
Mention that you're vegan when ordering because they'll substitute a different sauce than what they usually use. The employee also made sure that the sucker I got with my meal (they always give out suckers) was vegan. I was impressed by this attention to vegan details. The manager mentioned to me that he is vegetarian when I gave him a HappyCow sticker.
I had the meatless meatball sandwich (Meatless Mike) with vegan cheese and it was really tasty. On other occasions I've had the Handsome Owl and Pilgrim sandwiches.
