If I could rate 5 stars I would - Edit
I am a big Ike’s fan and I’ve been to many locations in two states. This one is extra special in my opinion. The employees I’ve met here are very nice. Earlier this year I came here in a literal torrential downpour, and there was a teenage couple shivering in the rain outside trying to sell little cacti for literal change. They were displaced from their home due to violence, and the shelter was full for the night. I wanted to get them hot sandwiches, but I only had enough money for one besides my own. I took a chance and asked the lady behind the counter if they had an extra sandwich maybe someone didn’t buy or something. She made them an entire extra sandwich no charge, so they each got one. 🥹 I was surprised and thankful for their generosity, and the teens were extremely grateful to have a hot meal to fill them up for the night. Thank you, Ike’s ❤️

This is a great sandwich shop and the sandwiches are great but sometimes they can be a miss depending on who is working/making your sandwiches.

Nice sandwich, lots of vegan options - Edit
I really enjoyed my sandwich from Ike's. The menu is slightly confusing as they only list meat and vegetarian options, but it seems that anything veg can be made vegan if you ask them to. My meatball sandwich had vegan cheese and a vegan spicy mayonnaise type sauce on it, along with fresh and pickled vegetables and it was really delicious!

Best Sandwiches Around - Edit
The place has the best sandwiches! They have so many vegan options! The biggest problem for me is that I love my favorite sandwich too much not to get it, so I haven't tried all the vegan options.
Read moreHere it is: build your own sandwich with vegan chicken nuggets on dutch crunch bread, add buffalo sauce, vegan cheese, vegan dirty sauce, lettuce, and tomatoes. Sooo good and one of my number one cravings!
I can also vouch for the vegan meatballs - according to Peta the number one vegan meatballs in the country! Staff are friendly and work with you on ordering vegan. They always give you a lollipop with your meal. Usually they give you the blue one (which is vegan) when you order a vegan sandwich, but sometimes they give you apple caramel (not vegan) and you have to ask to trade it.
It can be a little tricky to find if you don't know where you're going. It's in the little shopping center behind Rite Aid on McHenry and Briggsmore. Just turn in like you're going to Rite Aid and you'll find it tucked away.
It's somewhat pricey for a sandwich (about 11 dollars) but totally worth it! And if you have a student ID, bring it in between 3 and 5 from Monday to Friday for half off.
Meat eaters love this place too, so you probably won't find yourself in too many arguments with meat eaters about choosing Ike's for lunch/dinner. :)
Pros: So many vegan options, So bloody delicious, Fun lunch box decorations
Cons: Closes early (7pm)

Really good sandwiches - Edit
This place has a lot of different options for tasty vegan sandwiches, but for many of them you will need to specify that it needs to be vegan all the way and substitute vegan cheese for dairy cheese. That said, the sandwiches are delicious and filling. Most of the potato chip options I saw were also vegan. There is a sauce called “dirty sauce” that is vegan and can be used instead of mayo, and it’s really good. I don’t know what it is...a spicy aioli? The restaurant itself is clean and the workers are friendly. My husband went there 3 days in a row once I told him there is a new sub shop with vegan sandwiches near his work.
Read moreAlmost forgot, but there is a kids menu, and it also has vegan options, including vegan nuggets.
Pros: Onion rings are vegan (manager checked for us), Lots of vegan choices, Friendly staff
Cons: Fries are not vegan (seasoning contains dairy), Many options you need to specify substitutions
