Enjoy a vegan sandwich while at the mall! - Edit
I was super excited when I heard that one of my favorite northern California sandwich shop which is Ike’s was open it one but two locations in Bakersfield. This location is in the mall and upon walking to the counter, the employee was friendly and helpful.
Read moreMy husband is deathly allergic to nuts and we were happy to hear from the employee that Ike’s pesto is nut free. The sandwiches were moderately priced with the cheap sandwich costing around $8 and the most expensive sandwich costing around $11. For my first visit, I ordered the minsked words sandwich which contained vegan turkey, tangy mango sauce and provolone. I substituted the provolone for vegan cheese and added vegan dirty sauce to my sandwich and it was delicious. Considering the cost of the sandwiches, this may not be somewhere to go multiple times a week, but it definitely is good for an occasional treat meal. It’s exciting to see more restaurants opening in Bakersfield providing vegetarian and vegan options.
