“Only team”

After I arrived at the restaurant they refused me because they told me that they only serve groups and not individuals.

Amazing temple vegan food

The food is amazing, and everything is vegan!
There are 3 available menus, you just pick one and they bring you different dishes.
It is really tasty and the quantity is more than enough.
The staff does not speak english at all, but they are super friendly
We highly recommend it.

Planning to have lunch here was a mistake

The restaurant was not open at lunchtime when we arrived. We took the bus from Gyeongju and planned to have lunch here and then go to Bulguksa before returning to Gyeongju. We could not find any other vegan options near Bulguksa so ended up having a very late lunch back in Gyeongju after visiting the Bulguksa temple. I recommend eating in Gyeongju before going out to Bulguksa because you might end up disappointed and hungry. Also the more recent reviews from people who did eat here are not so good.

Expensive and non vegan kimchi

I hadn’t read the review about the kimchi until writing this review… hearing the kimchi isn’t even vegetarian is so disappointing, and not something I’d considered checking given I’m in what I believed to be a vegan restaurant 😓

Other than that it was a nice experience, but it was pretty expensive and not particularly full of flavour, most items were not available on the day I went, leaving only one option. The bean patty was good though!

Pros: Nice experience

Cons: Expensive , Only two items available on the menu

Bit ripped off

We (foreigners) paid for the yeonipbap meal set and only got normal rice. Then another (Korean) couple came in, paid for the same set, and got the full thing. Make of that what you will.

There’s no way it was a mistake; the jeongsik meals are very clearly named, we ordered in Korean and they confirmed, and we still had to pay for the full thing.

Sweet, amiable staff. Great food.

Got the suggested meal for two. It came with many dishes and they offered to give us more of any. Food seemed healthy and tasty. Server is learning English and used a translation app to chat. They explained what things are and said they're all vegan. We enjoyed chatting with them.

Pros: Everything's vegan, Plenty of food, Super nice staff

Cons: The chattiness may not be ideal for some

Amazing temple food, lovely staff

We loved the food here. We were assured everything was vegan, but to be honest, sometimes we didn't know what we were eating and the staff didn't speak much English.
Everything was very tasty (and sometimes spicy) and we had a lot of food.

Great vegan temple food only a five minute drive from Bulguksa Temple

Great vegan temple food only a five minute drive from Bulguksa Temple. Friendly staff, a nice variety of 반찬 and vegan kimchi (another review from last year says otherwise but they told us no fish sauce so maybe they’ve change their recipe? It definitely didn’t taste fishy and I can usually tell the difference)

They also do a vegan katsu curry 도시락 which looks amazing and I’m very excited to try later.

Pros: Vegan temple food, Variety of 반찬, 도시락 (lunchbox) option

Vegan but kimchi with fishsauce

We came here feb 20, when we got the food the chef came outside to warn us that kimchi contained fish (otherwise I would have eaten it, as it is a labeled vegan restaurant).
The other food was all vegan and tasty.

Pros: Almost all vegan, Staff friendly and helpful

Cons: Expensive , Fish in food

Stop in Gyeongju

This restaurant serves full course menus with all vegan dishes - beautifully decorated!

Their Korean temple cuisine seems to be popular also among Buddhist monks and nuns. They use seasonal ingredients, while refraining from the typical spices onion, garlic, chives etc (오신채).

For me, a most stop when in Gyeongju. :)

Pros: large menu, good food, price

A great stop while sight seeing in Gyeongju

This place is a great find on our day in Gyeongju. It is within walking distance of many of the main attractions and also right on the bus line so you should definitely get out there. The ladies who worked there are very kind! They tried to use their phones to translate the menu and food explanations to us which was great. The menu is in Korean - and while my knowledge is limited we ordered the tonkassu set for 15,000 won and it was definitely good value. I've never had a proper fake meat tonkassu in Korea! We saw other people getting what looked like the more expensive set menus and it looked amazing as well!

Pros: Amazing presentation, generous portions, Nice and cozy decor, Fast service, friendly employees

Cons: No English menu, Some set menus were far above our price range
