Quan Chay Huong Thien is a typical Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant. Located on a main commercial street in the town. The front of the restaurant shared space with a motorbike repair shop, two doors to the left of the temple when facing it. Reported open, Sep 2020. Open Mon-Sun 6:00am-7:00pm. May close some Sundays.

Look for the temple! - Edit
This place eluded me for long enough that I thought it was actually gone for good. The food is standard cheap chay fare. Cost is 20k for cơm chay. It's about 5k more than some other places, but this one seemed a little cleaner than others (I didn't find any caterpillars in my greens etc). One person there speaks the most basic English phrases and everyone is friendly.
Read moreWhere is it? First, find the Chùa Hòa An temple as it’s much easier to spot from the road. Then the restaurant is 2 buildings to the left of the temple if you are facing the temple. The location on Google Maps is called Quán Chay Hương Thiền and the address is 324 Phan Châu Trinh. The front of the shop is shared with a motorbike repair shop so that might be confusing but you can see the tables and food further back.
To my knowledge, there is no menu.

Cheap and authentic Vietnamese Vegan Food - Edit
Myself and some friends had lunch at this place after visiting the mural village nearby. We probably wouldn't have found it without the HappyCow listing as Tam Ky isn't an easy town to navigate. The owner/lady serving us was very jolly and had a laugh at our attempts to speak Vietnamese! We choose a selection of dishes from the counter; Vegan Chicken rice, spring rolls, vegan beef 'la lot' (beef wrapped in lime leaf),rice noodles with veg and tofu; okra, and morning glory. All of this was accompanied by a huge bowl of rice and a big bowl of soup. It was really good, particularly the vegan chicken rice and the vegan beef 'la lot'. One of our group was a vegetarian from Australia who said he disliked mock meat; he hadn't tried it in Vietnam before though and changed his mind after this meal!
Read moreFrom memory I think it only cost about 150,000 for all of this food; split between 5 it was a lot of food for very little money. Don't bother going to Tam Ky just to eat here, but do combine it with a trip to the Mural Village and the nearby Cham ruins (not My Son, just two Cham towers).
