Very tasty budda bowl - Edit
I had the budda bowl and my partner the blossom burger. Both were very good. Unfortunately the service was very slow, we waited a long time for the food. But it was worth it.

The two vegan entrees aren't bad at all! - Edit
Since our first choice had changed their hours and was no longer open on Monday, we stopped in here for lunch. This wasn't our first choice because there were only two vegan entrees on the menu, both of which we ordered. The side of chips was said to be vegan, but not sure if they're fried in separate oil.
Read moreThere is no longer a Beyond burger on the menu, but a Blossom Burger consisting of a (housemade?) patty of mixed beans, beetroot, chickpea and mushroom. It includes vegan cheese and mayo and wasn't bad. It was a bit smooshy as most of these types of patties can be, but it was fine. I don't remember avocado on it, but again, not bad. The bun was SUPER soft, which is good with a mushy patty so it doesn't smoosh all out when taking bites. Kudos for that, and hope the bun is vegan!
The Buddah Bowl seemed a bit more substantial to me. It comes with plenty of grilled vegetables including zucchini, mushrooms, beet(root)s, onions, bell peppers, and possibly more. The vegetables by far made up most of the dish. There was a small bit of quinoa and about the same amount of chickpeas and hummus. I discovered when I started eating, that the quinoa and hummus were actually placed atop what tasted like cucumber, so there is actually less of those than originally appears. Nonetheless, I felt the Buddah Bowl was definitely more substantial and the grill on the veggies added some depth of flavor. Something, maybe the hummous or tahini dressing, was SUPER garlicky. Be forewarned if that's an issue. I thought it was good, personally. Hubby thought it needed acid so he squeezed his water lemon into it.
The chips were GREAT! Crispy outside and smooth, creamy inside. Again, not sure if fried in separate oil, so may actually not be TRULY vegan.
One last comment. The menu has (V) Vegan, (VG) Vegetarian, and (GF) Gluten Free in the legend for designations, but none of the items in the actual menu were denoted with any of them. We asked for help and clarification and staff very willingly checked on things for us.

Delicious buddha bowl 🌿 - Edit
Clearly marked vegan options and lovely warm atmosphere. The buddha bowl was so tasty and substantial. Didn't have it, but saw that there was a vegan chocolate tart as a dessert option too!

Burger, which clearly has been homemade and freshly cooked. Tasted very nice and the fries wäre very fresh as well and stayed warm until the last bite!

Nice food - Edit
We visited HG-1 bar twice during our stay in Lewis, so I got to try the Blossom burger and the Buddha bowl, both were nice and very generous portions! Only vegan dessert option available was vanilla ice-cream. Nice bar and atmosphere.

Vegan labelling and open on Sunday - Edit
Not my first choice for eating out in Stornoway (that would be the Crown) but it is OK. The Beyond burger is great though on a return visit they brought it with a huge salad instead of the expected chips it says on the menu (and that I'd had before). Turns out the chips are fried with other things and presumably as the vegan menu was new on my first visit they hadn't realised it could be an issue for some vegans. It isn't for my partner so they brought him the chips but they really should ask before replacing chips with salad (he really isn't a salad sort of guy) and make this clear on the menu.
Read moreThe chickpea curry is also good as is the veg Thai curry which usually can be veganised (may depend on the chef that day I was told) if you make it absolutely clear what you want but they said no shrimp paste or fish sauce at the point I visited anyway. And it was excellent.
Staff not helpful about vegan alcohol (they are in the Crown) plus patchy wifi made it difficult for me to check but they do have Thistly cross cider in bottles which is nice and is vegan.
Pros: One of the few places in Stornoway open Sundays, (GET THERE EARLY), Vegan labelling
Cons: No prebooking of tables, Chips fried in with animal products, Not cheap but nowhere is in Stornoway
