Cons: Pocas opciones

Deliciously limited - Edit
Howies deserves special commendation for their ability to add truly delicious vegan options to a menu teeming with meat, not just ticking the “it’s vegan” box. However, we were pretty limited to a risotto and a vegetarian haggis and it was incredibly expensive (but really, really good). Another special mention to the service - exactly what you’d expect from 5 star fine dining, you can really see where all your extra euro goes.

Delicious and fresh - Edit
Booked in for our last meal in Edinburgh after spotting the pea and mint risotto on the menu. I ordered the vegan haggis as a starter also. The haggis was tasty, the tatties and neeps not so much. The risotto was very nice, although more peppery than minty in flavour. My partner had the soup of the day and the beetroot starter as a main - said they were both very good, lovely and fresh. We opted for sorbet for dessert and it really was enough food. The staff were very attentive and efficient. The main drawback was that the restaurant seemed to feel very frantic, things happened very quickly so not so relaxing. I guess that’s what you get for going in the busiest month of the year!

Don't go - Edit
Wouldn't even recommend it as a compromise place to go with omnis as there are vegan options. Had the vegan feta and beetroot starter - the cheese certainly wasn't a feta, this was just cheap coconut based cream cheese. Beetroot didn't have much taste, just sour. Main was pea and mint risotto, vegans get it without the pesto and without cheese. It's topped with a very sad looking overcooked spring onion. Drinks are outrageously expensive (e.g £6.50 for 330ml beer, £9.99 250ml wine) Avoid!!

Lovely vegan haggis - Edit
My non-vegan boyfriend really wanted to try haggis, and was delighted to find a place where they had vegan alternatives. I was not disappointed, incredibly tasty, fresh food and cozy place.

Tasty vegan haggis - Edit
We went to the Victoria street restaurant and were very impressed. The vegan haggis was very tasty, especially the mash and sauce. I had risotto for my main and that was lovely too. Not loads of options but enough to choose from. The service was very good and it felt like a ‘posher’ option for a treat. Their 2 and 3 course deals and quite good value.

Expensive but not worth the price - Edit
There are some vegan options that are easily identified thankfully. The best dish was the soup of the day with miso, burnt onion and parsnip, definitely would recommend. The vegan haggis was great, but the other accompanying veggies were bland. And asking 17 pounds for half a cauliflower is quite crazy to me. Especially when it wasn't particularly good either.
Read moreThere's plenty of amazing vegan food in Edinburgh, fully vegan spots as well, and unfortunately this doesn't live up to it.
Pros: The soup of the day, Quick service
Cons: Expensive, Bland

Very nice dining experience - Edit
I had the vegan haggis and pea risotto, as well as a chocolate mousse for dessert and it was amazing. The menu clearly marks the vegan options and even specifies the vegan wines on the wine list. A highlight of Edinburgh!

Tasty food - Edit
Entered the restaurant without any idea of what it would be like - they mention they cater for vegans on the outside of the restaurant. It was quite fancy but tasty food. A couple of vegan options for each meal but wish there were more. I got the pea and lemon spring risotto, and then the chocolate pot for dessert.
