this meal was exactly what i needed after a hike. i couldn't aee the vegan option on the menu (despite knowing how to read a little japanese) but when i asked if they still had the vegan soba the owner nodded immediately. such a lovely stop, and great value for price! i wish i could come back again!

The Real Deal - Edit
This neighborhood soba-ya is tucked away on a back street but close to the port. They have a sign in Japanese that says “Vegan Soba” (see photo). You get soba with dipping sauce, and tempura. Excellent. We also had the zenzai (sweet red azuki bean soup with homemade mochi) and kuzu-kiri clear noodles in sweet brown sugar syrup. Super nice people! Would be five stars if they were all veg!
