Restaurant located just outside the tourist area. Offers a range of mock meats and vegetable dishes. Menu is printed in Vietnamese only. AUG 2014 REPORTED COULD NOT FIND.
Visited the place several times with my wife and mother-in-law. They're both Vietnamese and have been vegan for about 20 years, so it was a big surprise to find a dish they hadn't tried.
As someone already said, they have a draft of an English menu now, hopefully our fixes make it to that also. Note for vegans -- the menu mentions butter on one dish, so we asked the staff: they don't use butter but the place and owners are pure vegan as it says on the window. They even use the expensive definitely pure vegetable oils, not the cheap ones from the market which according to local rumours can sometimes be mixed with animal fats to reduce the price.
Would recommend their beefy dish -- I forget what it was called now, but something related to beef and costing more than any other dishes except for hot pot. There's quite a lot to eat so it doesn't end up expensive. How to eat:
1) put 1-2 of the beefy bits to soak in the sauce that's on the fire
2) wet one sheet of rice paper in the water bowl
3) put some of the vegetables, noodles, and the soaked beefy bits on the rice paper
4) roll the rice paper up and eat -- if you like it spicy, dip in the red sauce they also bring.
Someone has written the menu out in English, though some of the descriptions don't really give you a clear idea of what the dish will be, and quite a lot of the menu didn't seem to be available. The staff don't speak any English at all so it was a bit difficult to understand what was and wasn't available.
The food here was OK, very reasonably priced but nothing special.
A little bit of a walk but definitely worth it. The menu has no English but one of the sons can speak a little bit of English and can translate for you. The food here is very cheap, you get a very good portion and it is very tasty. Definitely give some of the Vegan Pho a go, its delicious.
Simple decor and the staff are friendly despite language barrier. No air con but has fans, they do the job just fine.
My husband, adult son and I have visited this restaurant several times and have ordered the same dishes each time as all the menu is written in Vietnamese only and no pictures are on the menu. Each time the dishes have differed in taste and texture although quality has always been good. No cold drinks are available and water is served with ice if you are adventurous. Worth a visit while in Nha Trang.
