Difficult to Locate, Food not too bad - Edit

Had a hard time looking for it. The road name in Chinese is 林廓北路. It is about 5 to 10 minutes walk from 小昭寺 area.

Anyway, the photographs of the dishes found in the menu looked good and the cooking style is mainly Sichuan, aka spicy. However, I ordered two none spicy dish, the first is a mushroom (The Chinese called it golden needle mushroom) and toufu and the second dish was pine seeds with sweet corn. Both dish were not too bad, but I have to comment that the mushroom overshadowed the toufu. The toufu was great but there were too many mushrooms vis-a-vis the toufu so after while, if you are eating alone, you will get sick of the mushroom.

Overall the experience of dining there is not that great but I believed I will give them another try and probably update my reviews when I try out other dishes.

Note that they sell vegetarian products over the counter.

great food, great atmosphere - Edit

The food & service here was very good and very good value, but the best thing is the atmosphere: on my various visits i shared a table with an English-speaking monk from a nearby Tibetan buddhist temple and with young, hip, and older, weathered & beaded Tibetans - what lovely people and what a special treat! Upstairs is more private (with banquet rooms) and views over the market street and mountains. Wow!

The place is welcoming to everybody (but most customers were Tibetan), with dishes ranging from very cheap to moderately expensive, meaning that the poor rub shoulders with the wealthier locals (and the rare visitor like me!), in a very warm & cosy atmosphere.
