Delicious food, great service - Edit
Was thrilled to find this all vegan, all organic gem on my first day in Edinburgh! Ordered the Bloody Burger which was divine, and the Jamaican pineapple, coconut and lime cake, which was honestly the best vegan dessert I have ever eaten. Service was always delivered with a friendly smile, even though they were extremely busy! Major kudos to these wonderful humans, shall be dining again before I leave ☺️

Went for an late breakfast and found this Perfect cosy cafe, with a vegan menu of burgers sandwich and salads.
Read moreThe CBLT was amazing and just the right size and beautifully presented. For pudding the coconut cheesecake was ordered and went down without hitting the side.
It’s a real pleasure to find a cafe that serves good organic food, freshly cooked and with brought smile and this is what you get at Holy Cow.

Decent - Edit
The staff were lovely, welcoming, and really friendly. I loved that they had a range of milk options, so I got my favourite - oat. Very impressed by that, and by the selection of cakes available in a fridge to the side of the shop.
Read moreI ordered a hot chocolate (which was okay) and a Mexican bean burger, which came with some amazing chips, and was nice enough and filled me up, though definitely not worth £10 ! I could have easily made it at home, and I would have added more flavour, honestly. My partner had a smoked tofu sandwich, now the tofu was incredible, but there was only a few chunks! The rest of his was just kale! Quite disappointing honestly, though I understand it is an organic and healthy place. I wish I'd gone elsewhere, but you live and you learn!
Pros: healthy, organic, 100% vegan, nice meal, lovely service
Cons: too pricey, underwhelming hot chocolate, not enough filling in the sandwiches!

Really friendly, delicious place - Edit
We've been here many times already and love their burgers! They are always really filling which means that we can never take any of the delicious cakes (which we have tried already at a time when we only went there for cakes, and they are really good). The price is very okay for how filling their dishes are, especially compared to other places.

Amazing cake!! - Edit
Cute little cafe with amazing cake (especially the red velvet - best vegan cake I’ve ever had!!). Only reason why it’s not 5 stars is because of the price... slightly on the pricey side but would go back nonetheless.

Lovely warm welcome. Great choice of burgers. I went for 1/4 pounder and was not disappointed. Had a great turmeric latte with oat milk (there is a wide choice of milks) couldnt manage a dessert but got one to takeaway (just for scientific purposes of course)

too expensive - Edit
At £10.00 for a sandwich I walked in and walked back out again, I dont care if it is organic and vegan. Went to a non-vegan establishment and was charged £4 for a decent bowl of lentil soup.

Dear Friendly Fag,
Read moreThank you for taking the time to review us. We are sorry that your expectations weren't met at your recent visit. We do understand that cost is an important factor when purchasing food, however our sandwiches have never been priced at £10. They cost £7.95. We bake our own buckwheat bread and most of our food is homemade from scratch of which we are very proud. We like to use high quality ingredients and that is reflected in the price.
Hope to see you next time.
Best wishes,
Judit

Cute Cafe, great lunch - Edit
Excellent lunch spot in the centre of Edinburgh. A little on the pricy side by that is to be expected in this location. Great drink selection but food is limited to open sandwiches and burgers, all vegan. Since I went for breakfast I was a little disappointed by this. My hummus sandwich was excellent but the cake I chose was a little on the dry side (peanut butter chocolate). Staff very friendly.

I honestly wanted to try everything on the menu! It's not just salads and it's not just standard food trying to hide the fact that it's vegan. The food here is proud to be vegan and just incredibly tasty! The staff was also really friendly and helpful to a tourist!

What a cute place! Great menu and I love their hours, they are open a bit later than most places that are a similar cafe vibe. The food was great, their buns are really really yummy so I recommend any of their burgers! I loved the tumeric latte although it had big chunks of what I can o it assumed was tumeric root. A bit pricy but great food! Be sure to get dessert! Oh and I love their branding, wonderful.

Lovely - Edit
Visited yesterday morning with my wife on trip up from Newcastle. We are both vegan so looked on Happy Cow to find a vegan place. We were impressed with the freshness of the food, down to the homemade bread. We had two open sandwiches to share and the portions were hearts, we couldn't quite finish! I do think some additional seasonings (perhaps something smokey) on the tempeh would have been an improvements, but it was lovely non the less and I really loved the tofu sandwich. The drinks selection was nice and water was brought to our table straight away when we came in without us having to request it. We were given friendly table service although we would have happily ordered at the counter. Very relaxed atmosphere and nice, bright, clean decor.

Nice but expensive - Edit
We had the Cheeseburger and a BLT. The BLT was served on a really small piece of bread which made it very difficult to eat as it all fell apart, but was quite tasty, although a bit expensive for the size. The burger with the bbq sauce and cheese sauce was lovely and the chips were amazing. We had a summer fruits chocolate cake which was nice but a little bit bland.

A lot better than I thought it would be! - Edit
I must admit I wasn't too eager to eat here because I thought the menu wasn't super unique, but when I came here on my last day in Scotland I was impressed how tasty the food was! I only had one of the burgers, but it was honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. The Australian girl who served me with kind and answered all the questions I had. I would come here again to try the other items on the menu.

Awesome little restaurant - Edit
I really enjoyed my meal here. The restaurant/cafe was very cosy and cute. The decor was really nice, and the display of cakes and treats was very tempting and gave me something to look forward to after my delicious main.
Read moreThe waitress was super friendly and great about recommending which burger I should get - I ended up getting the jackfruit burger. It was really delicious, and it tasted very fresh. I also got a slice of the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake, which was just the right blend of sweetness and chocolate/peanut-butter-y-ness. I would definitely come here again if I'm ever in the area.

We came here on a chilly Saturday night in autumn and instantly felt at home in this warm and cosy café. It was not very busy and the relaxing atmosphere made our stay all the more enjoyable.
Read moreFor our meal, we shared two sandwiches (Smoked Tofu and the CBLT), which looked and tasted fantastic. After that, we could not NOT choose a slice of cake from their vast selection - and I'm so glad we did! I believe we had a Black Forest Berry Sponge Cake, and it was amazing!
Should you ever find yourself in the centre of Edinburgh, I'd highly recommend you pay this place a visit. It's not very far from Waverley station, which makes it the ideal spot to spend the time waiting for your train.
