Tasty - Edit
Very good carrot lox sandwich with homemade cream cheese, refreshing and tasty. Nice to have oat milk hot drinks too. Outside space at the back looks colourful.

Great food - Edit
This all-vegan place offers a selection of mains and cakes. As always, the food was superb, especially the Wellington, which is a Christmas-Special. We will be back for sure when we return to Edinburgh. Sry for the bad quality of the pictures

Amazing Vegan Soup! - Edit
We were in Edinburgh for just 3 days, and we went there twice because the soup was so incredibly good and filling, because you get a lot of bread with it. Also the fries are very crispy and tasty! Can only recommend 🥰

Definitely made with love - Edit
What a lovely spot! The place has such a cute vibe, and the food was absolutely delicious. But what really made a lasting impression on me was the atmosphere behind the scenes. On my way to the restroom, I could hear happy voices and laughter coming from the kitchen. It’s so refreshing to know the food is being made by a team that is actually having fun. You can really taste that positive energy in the dishes. Highly recommended!

Great spot! - Edit
Came here for lunch. Quickly shown a table and menu bought over. We got the Ruben and the tofu pad Thai. Both lovely and portions very generous. I had a pot of spiced apple tea and my sister had a soy cappuccino as well. Although the sever was running FOH alone, everything was done promptly with no long wait even though the place was full. Would recommend 💚

Fairly nice place but too chaotic. - Edit
Spending just a few nights in Edinburgh we specially looked for fully vegan restaurants and so we came to visit Holy Cow. I am very reluctant to give a not so nice review for a fully vegan restaurant but this just wasn't good. The floor was not particularly clean and the lady ,who was alone ,clearly had problems organizing everything -showing people their tables, cleaning tables, taking orders en following up orders- and we waited for so lang that we had, like someone else before us, just decided to leave when she came to our table and took our order. I took the beetroot carpaccio and my partner the Vietnamese tofu burger. Carpaccio should not come in thick heavy peaces and tofu should be prepared much more tasty than it was. The crispy fries were just not crispy. We were surely disappointed. For what it was it was definitely overpriced.

Bad. - Edit
I hate giving bad reviews to fully vegan businesses. But honestly they don’t deserve a better rating, the golden rule is that the customer is the king. Their coffee machine was broken, which is fine, not their fault and their are worst things in life. I just wish they had told me instead of having me waiting 15min while the lady was on the phone with the coffee machine company or whatever

Amazing plant cafe with everything you’d want - Edit
I’ve been here a few times over the years, and during Fringe, but haven’t left a review, so here it is! A cute little cafe, serving everything from breakfasts, to mains, sandwiches, burgers, pad Thai, veggie bowls, pancakes, cakes, lattes, kombucha. I highly recommend. The most recent visit I went for the breakfast at about 6pm! With a kombucha and a whilst I couldn’t finish a cake while I was there, and took one away for later ! I’ll continue coming back to Holy Cow Edi

Kleines Restaurant - Edit

Underwhelming - Edit
I always am and will be supporting fully vegan joints but the menu needs to be improved here. Firstly there’s not much to choose from. Lacking originality. I ordered a burger and it wasn’t worth the £18 (!) at all. Patty was so so, but the veggies were just cut and put in, I’d expect to at least cook the onion or something. Disappointed😡

A great all vegan find! - Edit
I was super excited to find an all vegan restaurant in Edinburgh! It's a cozy little place with a nice variety of options. Unfortunately, there was only one person working the front of house. It was a busy day, so she was running around to serve ten tables, make coffees, clear tables, and run the register. She did great, but because of this, the service was slow. The food and coffee were good, even the meat eaters with me enjoyed their meals.

Cozy atmosphere - Edit
We had a no-mackerel sandwich, oyster mushroom burger and a slice of chocolate-summer fruit cake. The sandwich was great, especially the pickles! The burger came with a really good sauce. The gluten free cake however wasn't that good, but the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was cozy, so all in all we had a nice experience.

Very friendly staff and a nice selection of burgers, sandwiches and soups. I had a quarter pounder and a cheesecake. The burger was excellent, the cake a tad heavy on that day. Overall nice experience.

Understaffed, dirty and expensive - Edit
We were looking forward to a breakfast here. When we arrived, it appeared only one person was doing drinks, taking orders and clearing tables.
Read moreThe menu looked good. I tried to order an infusion drink only to be told they don’t have of those. Fine, we ordered teas instead. We also ordered the breakfast which was almost £18!
The drinks never came. We eventually got some tap water. The breakfasts arrived and were nice, but we didn’t feel they were worth the price. The tofu was under seasoned and half the toast was just warm bread.
We saw a couple arrive, be seated and leave because it took ages to get their order taken.
It turned out the breakfast gave one of us a bad stomach after!
When paying, a kitchen staff member quite rudely pushed past me to enter the kitchen. They had just arrived for their shift I assume, as they weren’t dressed in kitchen clothes. They didn’t say a word. Another person from the kitchen came out and didn’t look happy and it took a long time to pay.
Overall, no workers seemed happy in this restaurant. Service was poor and food not worth the price. Such a shame as we were looking forward to it.

Tasty food, friendly staff, & delicious frappuccinos! - Edit
Great range of food and coffee, with very generous serving size (I ordered the full vegan breakfast). I had my first vegan frappuccino during my visit which I thoroughly enjoyed too - this sweet caffeinated beverage powered me for the rest of the day, I’m sure! Really happy to have had the opportunity to visit this restaurant during my visit to Edinburgh.
