Tasty but tricky - Edit

I love the potato and bean tacos, with no cheese. Sometimes they'll even do a combo if you ask nicely. Be very careful though, not all of the staff are knowledgeable about the menu items, and all of the rice is cooked in chicken broth. The 1st time I went they told me it was vegan and it wasn't, and I got really sick.
Tasty for a quick bite and great salsa bar. A little greasy and probably quite a bit of cross-contamination, it gives me a little tummy ache.

Pros: fast, cheap, salsa bar

Cons: limited vegan options, staff sometimes misinformed

Beware - Not so Vegan Friendly - Edit

It was last year sometime when my husband and I went to grab a bite at Hole Mole. The cashier, recognizing us, told us that the rice was now made with chicken broth, where it had previously not been. We were so disappointed and hadn't been back since.
I was excited to see a review from May 2017 on Hole Mole, thinking maybe they had changed the rice back or that a different location was doing things differently. I called the location listed on the Happy Cow site only to be told that they had switched to using chicken broth in their rice as well - only after checking with the kitchen after first telling me that it was not because she had not been informed of the change. :(
So....the beans are fine, the potato tacos should be fine, but if you want anything more, you're out of luck. Such a bummer. But if you want some tasty Mexican food where they are happy to keep their vegan customers happy, head over to Cocorinos.

Delicious! - Edit

I went to this place a lot when I first transitioned to a vegan lifestyle. Everything I've tried here is delicious and cheap! The FajitaRito is juicy and tasty... The teeny tiny potato tacos and beans tacos are extremely addicting (ask for no cheese) especially with their salsa! So good! I also love how their guac is pretty chunky. So amazing. The mushroom burrito is great too!

Pros: Amazing food, Cheap, Good value

Cons: Can get pretty busy at times

bluemoon 11 Jun 2017 - They use chicken broth in their rice. The cashiers are not all aware of it...but if you ask them to check with the kitchen, they will come back to you with the bad news....sorry :( It didn't use to be like that.

AMAZING Battered-Chile Burritos!!! - Edit

I loooooove Hole Mole for their amazing beer-battered chile burritos - they're huge, only $4.19, and so delicious that I would likely pay double that price for one (but don't tell Hole Mole that... ;) ). The burrito is vegan as-is, so there'e no "leave this or that off" ordering necessary, which I appreciate. This place is a total local favorite, not to be missed. Their teeny .49 cent potato tacos are stellar, too (vegans ask for no cheese). The 4th Street location is best for groups, but I think the Obispo location has the best cook. Love love love Hole Mole!

Pros: Delicious, Cheap, Fast
