Lovely little spot for bunch - Edit
I had the plant based breakfast which was perfect for brunch (toast, beans, falafel, greens, mushrooms). Fresh food and nice atmosphere.

Decent vegan options upstairs, but stay downstairs and avoid the rude service - Edit
So we were in Mousehole for the day and this appeared to be the only vegan-option place in town according to Happy Cow. Took a peek at the menu and saw a few options. Walked over to the "farmer's market" where there were some vegan pastries available and vegan Indian snacks from Ruby June's Indian Kitchen. We purchased a few things and snacked before heading back to the center of town.
Read moreOur non-vegan friends picked up a Cornish Pasty from Hole Foods Deli downstairs for takeaway since we were going to continue our trek, but since we still had 50 mins left on the parking, we decided to try the restaurant upstairs.
First impression with the young lady working upstairs was that she didn't want to be there and we seemed to be bothering her asking if a table for four was available (at 12:15p, by the way). After being seated and sitting looking at the menu for about 20 minutes, we flagged her down to ask questions and place our order. Mind you, there were no other customers. Since our friends had purchased a Pasty downstairs, they inquired if it was possible to eat it upstairs. She said she had to ask her manager. Mind you, they were also going to order some items off the restaurant menu to dine with us.
After checking, she said it was prohibited because the pasty was charged at takeaway price vs. £3.50 additional for dine-in. We offered to pay the additional cost, but still denied. Anyway, hubby and I ordered the Wild Mushroom Sur Croute, which was delicious, and the Spiced Beetroot Burger, which was also pretty good despite being mushy as all vegetarian/vegan burger patties tend to be.
The tastiness of the food was not enough to overpower the bad taste of the service. Next time, we'll just continue our journey and find another vegan-friendly place elsewhere. Or, maybe stay downstairs. Hubby & I did not check out the vegan offerings down there, but other reviews have praised the pastries.
Pros: A few tasty vegan items
Cons: Bad service

Great Views - Edit
Stopped here for a quick coffee. Had the option of at least 2 alternative milks for an extra 50p. They didn't have anything small as just wanted a snack that was fresh, only wrapped snack bars but that didn't matter. They're dog friendly which was ideal. I looked at the lunch menu which had a couple of vegan lunches but weren't labelled in any way so would still need to ask a member of staff to clarify. I did see a vegan pasty on the counter though which looked good.

Ideal for an afternoon drop in - Edit
When I'm in Mousehole I usually drop in for tea, or coffee and one of their vegan soups or meal options. Great chef.

Expensive but flavourful - Edit
We stopped for breakfast and had the vegetarian cooked breakfasts minus the egg to make them vegan.
Read moreWhen they first arrived we both were shocked and thought that for £8 it looked miserable with one and a half slices of toast, just one sausage, a quartered cooked tomato and a small lump of beetroot ‘black pudding’... oh and a few chunks of portobello mushroom.
It looked sad! But everything was very well flavored and it did end up being filling enough! It would have been nice if the place had had some vegan sauce to go with as ketchup and brown sauce there wasn’t vegan.
Some baked beans or spinach would have made it an amazing breakfast!
We also grabbed a vegan pasty to go and it was the best we had in Cornwall! Very expensive but amazing!!
The chef obviously knows how to flavor stuff!

Fabulous food in a picture postcard harbour - Edit
Small deli serving local food, good vegan options including a vegan cream tea (often with homemade cashew cream). Had the lentil wrap (regular menu) there were also vegan options on the specials board. Staff were helpful and friendly, offering choices on adapting other dishes where possible. Food was really tasty, view's across the harbour are also stunning!

Good vegan option in a beautiful location - Edit
The cafe is in a great location with beautiful views of Mousehole harbour.
Read moreWhen we visited there was only one vegan option on the menu, a spiced lentil roll/wrap (like a giant sausage roll filled with spicy lentils) that was served with some warm cashew cheese sauce, a tomato relish and a nice dressed salad on the side. Really good value - it was around £8 for a filling portion. The staff were really helpful and attentive.
There is also a good selection of local chutneys/sauces/marinades to buy and you could order items to take away.
Pros: Location, Great service , Good value
Cons: Only one vegan option
