Delicious and healthy

The owner chef was friendly and her food was delicious. I thought it was too pricey for the portion.

Full vegetarian, vegan friendly

Tachikawa is an interesting place. It has the grandeur of Tokyo, but people operate at a lower pace. The moment you step out of the train, you'll notice the difference with central Tokyo. And the same goes for the restaurants. Vegan and vegetarian restaurants aren't as abundant and around Tachikawa station "Hoccori Cafe" is your best option.

From the outside it does not look like a vegetarian place. There are no signs saying "vegetarian" or "vegan" and no pictures of health fruits or vegetables. On the inside as well it looks like an average restaurant. The menu is in Japanese only and the owner speaks just a few words of English.

It turns out that many of the sweets and snacks are vegan, but only 3 of the main meals are vegan. One is extremely spicy sesame ramen, one is tomato curry and one is "assorted vegetables of the day" (mostly onions on the day of my visit). I opted for an alternative: "ochatsuke", which is rice, seaweed and beans in hot tea water. Salad on the side. Very nice!

Pros: low price, close to the station, friendly people

Cons: only Japanese spoken / Japanese menu, limited vegan options

Friendly Vegan

This place is a quick walk from Tachikawa station. Serves mostly vegan dishes (owner will let you know which have dairy or egg), but again the menu was predominately vegan. We came for lunch with a sometimes slightly unruly 4 year old and the owner was friendly, understanding and served our food with a smile. Oh and the vegan dishes we had were tasty and hit the spot. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!

** unfortunately the address of this restaurant is not “Tachikawa” so it does not come up on Happy Cow when searching for vegan places in “Tachikawa”… but it is an ~8 minute walk from Tachikawa station.

Tasty and comfy cafe

This was a place I’d been wanting to visit for a long time but my meat-eating friends preferred elsewhere. Until now! I could enjoy going with my friend who doesn’t mind vegetarian & vegan food and I was not disappointed! The aunty running the store was not wearing a mask the whole time, but other than that, the food was prepared per order and the shop is homey.

Pros: Loads of vegan options, One of the optional curry specials used cheese, Organic, locally produced fresh seasonal veggies

Cons: little pricey for the quantity, but quality GREAT

Little vegetarian shope

It's a nice little vegetarian place, they can manage some English, but more importantly, will point out the items that are vegan. The food was simple and tasty. It seemed to have been run by a single lady (though she managed it pretty well), would recommend if you're in the are and looking for vegetarian or vegan food.
