My favourite hypermarket in Bulgaria

I like visiting different places including stores. I have been in a lot of different hyper/supermarkets in Bulgaria and this one is my favorite. My last visit was a bit underwhelming, as the store wasnt in his best shape and i learned that the original owner sold it last year since he was chronically losing money last few years. Not sure what the new owner is doing, but the things are not looking better and it may not be around for that much longer, so go there, if youre interested. Anyways, they still have plenty of interesting stuff although they have moved some foods in other locations of the store. Variety of mock meats, unlike most regular stores can be found here. Also tofu, plant alternatives of milk, cheese, plant yogurts, nutritional yeast. They still offer soy snacks that you cant find anywhere in Bulgaria that i love.
They also had one of the soy milk brands (German one) at 3lv, which is on the cheaper end for here. I got the last one. Its alright, but i recommend the soy milk from Lidl and Billa which is the same or around the same price, but is just better quality.
Over the years i always go to this store and Kring when i visit Sofia. So i could be a little bias.

They also have the most adorable pigeons walking outside the store. I always forget to get some food to feed them, so this is as a reminder to myself next time, or if someone else want to be prepared in advance and go and feed them.

Limited selection at best

Apart from a handful of products, such as mock meats and vegan cheeses (all German imports), there is not really more choice here than in other comparably sized supermarkets.

Due to its size, there is generally a lot of choice, so it is indeed an option if you have to do your weekly shopping, however as the supermarket itself has seen better years in my opinion, it's not worth making the trip here if you're not from the area itself.

I wouldn't go out of my way to come here as the vegan selection is only marginally better than most smaller supermarkets and even some smaller organic stores like Zoya offer a similar selection.
If it's the supermarket feeling you're after, I would suggest the Fantastico in Studentski grad as it is newer, brighter and actually offers a wider range than Hit.
