Serves meat, vegan options available. Small Italian restaurant with English menu. Has pasta (without egg, de cecco), and you could ask the owner to make your order vegan without meat - for example spaghetti aglio e olio without the ham. The marinara pizza is vegan. Open Tue-Sat 6:00pm-11:30pm. Closed Sun.

Hisago - cover charge

We didn’t go in because of the cover charge, small, 600 yen, but it just didn’t seem right.

Cover charges in exchange for a small dish are very common in Japan. It's unfair to give a 1 star rating for something that is common practice here, especially when they give you a dish for it, too. They don't deserve that rating.

Vegan bruschetta & pizza marinara

The bruschetta was the best part of the meal! Full of flavour, fresh and homemade.
The only vegan pizza on the menu was the marinara; simple, but really tasty. A nice thin stone ovenbaked pizza crust with tasty tomatosauce and a lot of garlic.

Gem in a city with few choices

Thanks to Happy Cow I tried out Hisago, vegan options so hard to find in Nagasaki. The chef was accommodating and made a delicious pasta, bruschetta and salad being careful to show me dressings. About $35 AUD with wine. Cash only

Amazing Italian food

During our 3 day stay in Nagasaki we came here twice, because it was so so good. The owner does everything himself from taking orders to cooking. His English is limited, but he understands what vegan is and has an English menu (doesn’t say what is or isn’t vegan, but he will tell you if you ask). The owner is really passionate about his work and it shows! Definitely worth a visit.

Pros: Amazing food, Kind owner

Very cozy italian restaurant! I ordered the spaghetti aglio olio without ham and they were very tasty.
