Best philly steak I've ever had! - Edit
Very welcoming, staff was easy, quick, and very friendly. By far is the best vegan cafe to pick up a philly cheese steak. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

When in Philly you have to eat a steak and cheese sandwich, but what if you don’t eat steak or cheese?!!! This place had just what I was looking for. Recognizing that just because it is plant based does not mean its healthy, I had a very tasty green smoothy! Lots of other sound alike options and a few actually healthy vegan meals too.

Best fast food around - Edit
I love this place. Omni's love it too! It is a tad on the pricier side for "fast food" but it's far healthier than traditional fast food and it doesn't involve animal slaughter.

Fast, delicious, comforting, but with a slight hint of janky - Edit
Okay, first off, I recognize there are a few locations to choose from, so perhaps this one may be the outlier, but here are my points:
Read more- My significant other got the Chik'n nuggets with the sweet potato fries and sriracha aoili
- I purchased the Crispy Hipcity Ranch (Chik'n sandwich, with peppercorn ranch).
She really enjoyed her nuggets, and the sweet potato fries, were partially crispy and some of them were a little flat..., but otherwise tasted great, and the aoili was delicious
My sandwich, was absolutely delicious, I loved it. It felt like a homemade sandwich, and was totally a comfort food;
The service was pretty fast, and it was pretty busy in there, but we both had to use the rest room; which is where David Bowie should have appeared...
You have to go out into the main building lobby, past the security guard, through another door (next to the stairs), and then go to the restroom door, which despite being labeled as Male/Female, are exactly the same bathroom stall, and key works for both
Bathroom itself was OK I guess in terms of cleanliness, but a weird place to get to it without any signs, and it feels like the bathrooms are shared heavily without any type of occupied sign (which my girlfriend almost walked in on somebody due to this).
Other than that, the seating arrangement is small, it has the kind of window seating area like a coffee bar would have, stools against a bartop, about 5 seats, and then in the lobby of this large building, about 5 table tops, 4 seats at each. It's a little odd for a place that busy, unless you were just grabbing lunch to go?
The prices are a bit steep generally, $10 for a sandwich alone? Is this Greenwich Village in NYC or the UWS? Either way, it was delicious, but price point wise is pricey.
Also, the ingredients aren't exactly labeled as to what is in what (for allergies, or sensitivity, etc.). Like for example Soy in the Chik'n, or if it's made with Seitan, etc.
Pros: Food is delicious, A lot of different options, Fast service
Cons: Lack of transparency in ingredients, Poor Seating, Labryinth level doors for a bathroom

I just want to sit down and eat! - Edit
I LOVE HIP CITY VEG! Delicious fast food, all vegan and healthier than some alternatives. I have been here several times and always thouroughly enjoyed the food and the staff has always been super friendly. The sweet potato fries are a perfect side to the burgers. It's always busy and they have very little seating. It doesn't stop me from going whenever I am in Philly but it would be great to sit down and enjoy rather than pounding down my sandwich on the street!

Great vegan sandwiches! - Edit
So glad I went. Had the Philly steak sandwich and a cupcake. Both were awesome! Prices on the regular menu items were pretty reasonable. The cupcake was a little pricey (around $5, I think). I just wish I had been able to try more.

Hearty cheesesteak - Edit
I ordered a cheesesteak to go as I was rushing off for a meeting. There weren’t that many people there, but the service took a bit longer than I expected. The cheesesteak was pretty good, but not as exceptional as other cheesesteaks and sandwiches I had in Philly. That said, I really appreciate having this option smack in the middle of downtown. I would definitely come back to try them again.

A great first trip to this restaurant while on a trip - Edit
I found the food excellent. It was good to see a variety of offerings, including salads for the nutritionally challenged traveler! Found the place similar to Native Foods in Chicago, though without quite as large and varied a menu. (Also, there was no table service offered, while Native Foods brings food to one's table.) The space (in a downtown high-rent zone) was a bit cramped. Also, servings perhaps a bit smaller. In particular, I ordered a soup from the specials board and a Mexican-type salad. Both very tasty. Lacking seating space inside; extra seating in a nearby entryway to the building. This seating area was very cold on an extremely cold day. Reasonably clean and usable bathroom a short walk away within the same building. I will be eager to come back some time to try more of the items on the menu.
Read morePros: healthiness, convenience of hours and location, tastiness and variety of offerings
Cons: lack of (climate-controlled) seating, portions slightly on the modest side, reasonable prices

This is on my top 10 restaurants since all I had was very tasty. We were a group of three and everyone was satisfied. I was really happy with my sandwich and fries. I'd love to come back again. Recommended!

We ate here twice on our trip to Philly. A lot of the other vegan restaurants are small plates with hefty prices, so this filled us up.

I had to travel here to try out the breakfast options, and boy am I glad I did! The breakfast wrap was really delicious and the caesar salad was the best I've ever had. All vegan! I didn't think the pricing was too bad either compared to other vegan restaurants. I'll definitely be back for more!

I love that Philly has its own vegan fast food chain, and that it is doing so well. The food is amazing and this location has a nice area for additional seating in the back. The food is so good I bet people pick this over McDonalds when they're having a busy day.

A Vegan Wonderland - Edit
Yes this place is small but OMG is it amazing. The Crispy HipCity Ranch with buffalo sauce is literally to die for. I ate one at the shop and promptly ordered another to-go. My husband ordered the Ziggy Burger and the Caesar salad which was also delightful. Never had a Caesar salad with plantain chips in it but it really worked well. The milkshakes were also really good. Definitely recommend the seasonal strawberry shake. If you are travelling through Philly you have to stop at HipCity Veg! All their wrappings/containers are also compostable which is rad. Oh and did I mention this place is fast food style? I could not believe how quickly the food was made considering the quality. This is not some throw it together place. Each item is very well put together.

Very good - Edit
I tried a few different things here: the zippy burger, crispy hipcity ranch, disco chick'n, jerk chick'n salad and brownie. The sandwiches were all REALLY good. I found the tempeh bacon to be really flavourful and very good. The chick'n also has perfect consistency and overall the sandwiches were 5/5, great!! The brownie was good, but nothing particularly amazing, and cost almost $5 so that was definitely too pricey. The salad was not nice: the dressing was watery, the chick'n tasted like pepper, not jerk, and overall there was nothing very good about it.

Cute and yummy! - Edit
Cute, clean, modern little joint just down the block from Philly's Academy of Music. Burgers, sandwiches, "chik'n," salads, juices, desserts - standard fare but very well done. The Disco Chik'n sandwich was delicious. My son and husband really liked the L'il Golden Nugs and sweet potato fries. And the staff, in addition to being friendly, was also very accommodating, and whipped up a udon noodle dish with vegetables for my five year old. Oh, and the desserts - gingerbread cupcake and gingerbread cookies, zucchini loaf and chocolate chip cookie... really good. In the restaurant itself, there is only counter seating for three, but if you go through the big wooden back door, there is more seating in the marble lobby of the building. Nice find.
