I was a tourist and only had one item – the cheesesteak. I am always pleased when a standard vegan burger place offers a 'local food' option, since I often miss out on much of the food tourism!
Read moreIt was piping hot and the components were pretty good, though I can't say it really wowed me. I was quite surprised that there was liberally applied ketchup. I have been vegan so long that I have never had a 'true' Philly cheesesteak, but that cannot be normal? In any case, it would have been much better without it.
It's a great option to have, but it's hard to give 5 stars based on that item, which was close to $15 with tax and pseudo-mandatory tip (even though it was takeout). The place was efficient, but there is nothing charming or homey about it, and only 4 stools in the front, so it's food-centered.

Partner and I split our meals. I thought the Philly steak was just okay. The texture was on point but I felt like it was missing something. The crispy hipcity ranch was very good! Solid sweet potato fries. Yummy.

HipCity really has some of the best food. Their burgers are my favorite, especially the smoke house. I love their fries and shakes as well. And their salads are surprisingly filling.
Read moreThe problem with Hipcity is they are so dang expensive. It's like 20 bucks for a burger and fries. Neither of which are big at all. It's good, but these vegan places are brutal. I've pretty much stopped going here. Now I just grab some vegan patties from the dollar store, and hook them up with vegan-smoked gouda, a bun, bbq sauce, and crispy onions. It's not as good and I gotta make it myself, but at least I can afford it 😅

Happy a fast food vegan spot exists in the city of brotherly love. Overall I happily frequent this spot when I’m in the city but on a recent trip back I was thrown by the poor execution of the cheesesteak, I chalked it up to being a one off fluke by the cook that day, so I went back the next day and ordered it again and sadly it was off again.
