Restored farmhouse turned cafe and gallery run by a couple that make things from scratch (growing the food, preparing the dishes, carving the utensils, crafting the table, weaving & dyeing the placemats, etc). Food is mostly plant-based except for fish broth. Offers a seasonal lunch set and dessert that can be made vegan upon request. Call ahead. Open Sat-Sun 11:00am-4:00pm. Closed Mon-Fri.

Delightful unique place in rural Shiga - Edit
We were brought here by family from the area. The restaurant is almost all vegan except that they will use fish broth (dashi) which is very hard to avoid in Japan, and they can prepare meals without dashi upon request with advance notice. The traditional farmhouse is beautifully restored, everything is touched with obvious care.
