Good vegan options - Edit
This place serves meat but had several vegetarian and vegan options. The daal was really delicious. The aloo gobi was also pretty good.

Considerate to Vegan preference + delicious - Edit
Himalayan was such a relief in our search for a vegan lunch in BBL.
Read moreIt was a lovely lunch after leaving 3 restaurants that had vegan burger options but only served on Hawaiian Egg buns. Weird. There are so many great non-dairy bun options out there in the US so why?
We loved how the staff candidly guided us through the menu as to what was and was not vegan. ie, Naan, no. We felt confident in the end that we had made the right choices and it was all very delicious.

Great options! - Edit
I went in and asked what was vegan and good twice this week. I went home with Samosas, Veg Pakauda, Aaloo Govi and Aaloo Mattar. All great! Highly recommend the Pakauda

Flavorful vegan food - Edit
The aloo matar was delicious with tender potatoes and peas. The garbanzo beans tasted fresh, not canned, plump and soft, but a bit salty. The samosas were just right. Tofu salad was a generous amount of greens, cucumbers, carrots and tofu cubes in a vinaigrette.

Good vegan options - Edit
There is a large vegetarian section on the menu. We ordered the aaloo mattar, mushroom mattar, samosas, vegetable pakaudas, and white basmati rice. We asked the waiter if everything we ordered was vegan and he said yes. The aaloo mattar was especially good; very yummy and flavorful sauce. Overall a very satisfying meal, considering that there are not many vegan options in Big Bear. The meals do not come with rice so remember to order rice separately.

Salty - Edit
Wasn’t a fan, sorry. They have a lot of vegan options but the food wasn’t that good. I got the mixed vegetable dish, it was salty and somehow bland at the same time. The onion bhaji we got were kinda stale. The mushroom mattar was also bland and kinda watery. I wouldn’t eat here again.

The staff is very nice, and knowledgeable about what they have and can do vegan. They have tons of delicious options, and were so helpful with giving recommendations on the phone. Delivery was fast. Everything was so delicious, and had excellent flavor.

Hidden Gem! - Edit
Weird that they cant allow us to give this place a 5 star....but this is a delicious Indian/Himalayan restaurant! They got some good vegan options and their food and samosas were a lot better than most Indian restaurants I've been to

So good! Large menu! - Edit
I would 100% eat here again. Large vegetarian menu and the wait staff was knowledgeable about which items were vegan or had a vegan option. Large portions too and they asked what our spice preference was and then respected it which is always nice!

Great Indian Food! - Edit
The waiter was easily able to say which of the vegetarian entrees are vegan, which is about half out of a dozen or so! Dishes can be made on a spice level of 1-10. Be sure to order a side of rice if you'd like as it does not come with entrees. I ordered the Aloo Matar and it was delicious!

asked for no dairy and got lots of dairy - Edit
Made it clear to our server that we could not have dairy in our food. We were told the vegetable monos were vegan, and they had cheese in them. They were also brought out with a dairy sauce. Then my boyfriend's thali came with a cup of yogurt. My lentil dal was mediocre at best.

Excellent! - Edit
Big Bear does not have many vegan options, so we were very happy to find the Himalayan. The food was delicious! We had the garbanzo beans and the daal, both fairly spicy (we asked for 7 out of 10 and it was perfect), and they were both excellent. The server was very knowledgeable and was able to tell us which items were vegan, which was more than half of the fairly extensive vegetarian menu. We will be back next time we're in Big Bear!

Authentic Food from Nepal and India - Edit
Nobody was sure what to expect when they opened a few years ago but this place has become a local favorite and they had to expand into the space next door.
Read moreThe service is not quite to American standards as almost everyone is newly immigrated from Nepal, but if you can get past that, the food is great. I wish the pricing was a bit lower. But this is downtown in the Village of a resort town, so what can you do. If it was cheaper I would eat there every day. Lots of options for us Plant Based eaters.
At the end of the day, good, consistent, quality food is most important so I would recommend to a friend and in fact we take our friends here when visiting all the time.
Pros: great location, great flavours and dishes, , cozy nice atmosphere
Cons: everything could be a dollar less, language barrier with server sometimes

Amazing food / OK service - Edit
The service was the only draw back to the place. I felt as if they did not acknowledge my family. We waited 15 minutes just to be acknowledge that we needed drinks. BUT they made up for it in the end and were really kind.
Read moreI would recommend it if you're able to deal with OK service. They're nice but the way everything is done isn't the best.
But I would say if you're in big bear its a good place to eat for vegetarian, and vegans who are comfortable in asking for ingredients since they only offer vegetarian menu.
I would recommend the lentil soup... It's amazing.

Very Good Food - Edit
The food here is some of the best Nepalese/Indian food I've had. We ordered the Dal and the Garbanzo beans curry and both were spectacular. I ordered spicy for the garbanzo dish and unlike other restaurants, it really is spicy. So, beware if you order spicy. My husband couldn't eat the dish because it was too spicy for him. Also, we wanted to order the veg mo mos, but they aren't vegan. We asked and it has cheese in it. Good for vegetarians, but not for vegans. This is probably the best and tastiest veg option in Big Bear Village. I highly recommend it.
