Would eat here over and over again - Edit
I have eaten here a couple of times and have loved it each time.
Read moreThe first time I went I had a bento box which was great value for money and absolutely delicious. My meat eating dad was also very impressed and has stated he would like to return.
On my second visit, I had a selection of vegan sushi which was some of the best sushi I've ever had (and I've been to Japan twice). However, the main dish I wanted was unavailable so I had chicken katsu with rice. This was disappointing but completely my own fault. I panicked and should have requested to look at the menu again.
I have had vegan chicken katsu many times at different places so wish I had opted for something a bit different.
Pros: Loads of choice
Cons: Can be pricey, Some things out of stock

Need to specify vegan 🫣 - Edit
Some of the options on the menu are "can be made vegan." When ordering these, make sure to specify vegan of that's what you're after 😅 Because they advertise themselves as 'plant-based,' we accidentally didn't (our mistake) and the sushi options came with real mayonnaise. Thankfully, they were able to take them back (the vegan version has a different non-mayonnaise-style sauce).
Read moreMy partner enjoyed his fried oyster mushroom starter and I liked the sushi, but the other 'main' (a noodle bowl with mushrooms) was too salty for me and my partner found that none of it tasted that fresh. My partner his mum both voted 3/5, but because of the wonderful service and lovely interior I went for 4/5. Yummy mochis too :)

Pros: Wonderful service, Lovely interior
Cons: Things didn't always taste that 'fresh', Need to specify vegan! They use eggs

Spoilt for choice, a wonderful restaurant with great service! - Edit
I went here on Friday, with my friend, as we were visiting Chepstow for the day. Having seen the reviews. We were not disappointed!
Read moreI'm vegan, my friend is omni, we got there 20 mins before clising but were welcomed with open arms.
Is was hard to decide on foid as there was so much choice. Everything is veggie, mostly vegan and anything that isn't, can be made vegan.
We both settled for poke bowls in the end, they were really good. Prices not expensive either.
I will be going back with my vegan, caeliac boyfriend, as soon as possible!
Pros: lots of choice, excellent service, delicious food
Cons: some of the decor wasn't to my taste

A Hidden Jem!! - Edit
My mum and I stumbled across Hikari this evening and decided to chance it and see if they had a table free; and thank goodness they did! Such lovely service, and wonderful options on the menu (mostly plant-based, with some vegetarian options) - definitely will be visiting again!

Fantastic and delicious plant-based dining! - Edit
Got taken out to dinner here last night and wow!! 🤩
Read moreIt is vegetarian, rather than fully #vegan, but anything that is or can be made vegan is clearly marked. ☺️🥰
I went for:
💚 Salt and Pepper Oyster Mushrooms (best mushrooms ever)
💚 Kicking Noodle-Mushroom (think of chow mein and katsu curry having a love affair and this is the delicious result)
💚 Matsu Moriawase (the crispy prawn was very nice and the size of each piece was generous)
💚 Chocolate mochi (as the other vegan dessert option was out of stock)
The staff were friendly and the food arrived quickly. I think I would have liked a better selection of ‘grown up’ non-alcoholic drinks and a better quality decaf coffee, but that didn’t ruin the meal itself and I’ll definitely be coming back.
Pros: Portion sizes, Clearly marked menu, Friendly, helpful staff
Cons: Non-alcoholic drinks selection

Best veggie/vegan restaurant in Wales!!! - Edit
Me and my partner LOVE this place.
Read moreThe menu is expansive and nearly everything is vegan, a handful of things contain egg but can be made without.
The plant based sushi is the best we've ever eaten; plenty of veg options or super foods based meat alternatives, perfect for those who avoid heavily processed fake options
The staff are wonderful, so kind and welcoming.
Pros: Expansive vegan menu, Kind, attentive staff, family run feel, Incredibly reasonably priced
Cons: Not close enough to go for lunch on the daily...

Best vegetarian restaurant in Wales? - Edit
Wow, the food, the vegan choice, the service, nice location. It may only be half a mile into Wales but it beats VFS to my vote for best Welsh vegetarian restaurant. I don't recall going to a better one in London, Bristol etc either.

Unbelievable selection of Asian food. An amazing place to take non-veg friends as I think this could convince anyone that you don't need meat! Everything tastes amazing and the service is always fantastic. We aim to try everything on the extensive menu eventually but the satay skewers are standout!

Best Sushi and Buns ever - Edit
This place is so worth the trip to Chepstow, we had the 13 sushi sharing, Buns made by the owner and the mock duck sharer. We then went a couple of doors down for the vegan ice cream from Colin’s.

Great vegan selection - Edit
While some dishes are prepared using egg the vast majority are totally vegan. The innovation in the menu is astounding with plenty of variety and definitely options that you may not even have heard of, let along never tried. Do check with staff about the vegan status of drinks, or double check yourself as they were not sure at the time of our visit (October 2024)

The best Sushi I've ever eaten; beautifully presented and so so tasty!
Read moreWe also tried the Crispy duck rolls, dumplings and buns. All beautiful and would highly recommend
Can't wait to go back and try more
Extensive plant based menu- some items contain egg but as Vegans we still had a huge amount of options.
Meat alternatives were plant based rather than ultra-processed which was really refreshing.
Lovely deco and atmosphere. Staff welcoming and went above and beyond to make our experience lovely 🥰
Will be a new regular place to eat! So happy we found it!
Pros: Extensive vegan menu , Kind, welcoming staff , Reasonably priced

Amazing food, selection, and service :) - Edit
I was passing through town for a show today and couldn’t believe our luck that there was a veggie restaurant so close to the castle.
Read moreThis place was perfect! The food was beautiful, there was a wide selection of great food to choose from with lots of variety within the cuisine and the service was great, too. Felt like a very wholesome family business😄
In all, we had steamed buns, sushi, oyster mushroom tempura (which was amazing 😭), a bento box and a poke bowl… AND bubble tea. All of which was amazing.
If you’re passing through Chepstow, this place is perfect!
Pros: The food, The selection , The service
Cons: The menu was maybe a bit too big - a good problem

Plenty of Vegan Options - Edit
I popped in for lunch on a weekday. I'd been meaning to go for a while but had felt slightly nervous as the menu outside does not have the dishes clearly marked as vegan. Thankfully, the food menu inside is clearly marked. The dining area was comfortable and it was nice to see reusable chopsticks instead of the disposable ones that certain chains provide... The staff were very attentive and offered recommendations. The salt and pepper oyster mushrooms were well seasoned, the batter delightfully crisp. The tempura bento box had a nice variety of things. The tempura batter was lovely and crispy as were the gyoza and spring rolls. The seaweed salad made a refreshing contrast to the fried goodies. Had a lovely meal and will definitely go back to try more of their menu.
