Recommended!

Visited on a quiet weekday afternoon. It’s an eclectic space, reminds me a bit of cafes in western mass and upstate ny. Good food served quickly, and friendly service. Interesting soundtrack drifting from the kitchen. I hope to stop by again when I’m in town.

Yummy and cozy

This place is so sweet and cozy. I had the pesto sandwich on homemade bread. I'm kind of a bread snob, and this restaurant's lightly toasted bread passed all my tests. Friendly waitstaff and great service.

Pros: Large portions, Super cozy

This place was slammin’!

We had spent a lot of the week in Cedar City and were soooo craving some vegan food! This place was so good! We had nachos, a French dip and tea. *chef’s kiss*

Fantastic!

High Note Cafe is the real vegan deal! The food is excellent and the service also excellent. I ate here a couple times on my recent visit to Boise and enjoyed the Breakfast Potatoes with tofu scramble (highly recommended), the blueberry pancakes and the brunch quesadilla. All really tasty, and good portion sizes. Boise is fortunate to have such a great vegan restaurant!

Old school in style

Feels like stepping back into a somewhat old school vegan spot, but they have the goods to back it up. Also they get cheesecake “right” and a lot of vegan spots could learn from this place. Massive portions too.

They make almost everything themselves too. How can you not appreciate that in a world where places slap a beyond patty on a bun and call it a day?

Pros: House made food, Helpful staff

Amazing food and service

Wow, the food here is incredible -- perfectly balanced, delicious flavors and we didn’t find anything too salty contrary to some other recent reviews (and I’m salt sensitive). Kind staff, and just blown away by the food (and we are from a city with *many* great vegan options). The gyro, breakfast sandwich, breakfast burrito, broccoli cheddar soup, and summer salad were all excellent. We are driving back through on our road trip in the reverse direction this weekend and cannot wait to enjoy High Note’s excellent menu again! Five stars!

Go to Vegan Restaurant in Boise

Everything on the menu is fantastic! This is our go to restaurant in Boise. We love being able to choose from the whole menu without worry. The food is fantastic, special shout-out to the gyro, the artichoke dip, and potato leek soup! Absolutely check them out if you are in the area!

Pros: Compassionate and very friendly staff, Fresh local ingredients, Menu variety

Sub par

The service was friendly, but the food really missed the mark. We had the French dip sandwich and the bruschetta grilled cheese.

The Seitan had a great texture, but the flavors were just not there. I found the dip to just be salty in a way that overpowered the subtleness of the herbs. The mashed potatoes with gravy was also overpowered by the coconut. It was so imbalanced that we found it barely edible. The Cesar salad was characterized by its sour dressing- again being overshadowed by a single taste. Only the bruschetta GC was okay. We did add salt and ev olive oil though.

I attempted to exchange at least one of the dishes, but the server wasn’t willing to aid us. Over all, this is the only vegan restaurant in town so I get that the bar may be low, but we should reach higher to encourage others to go vegan. We were grateful to have a meal, but I would not return.

Cons: Food is very imbalanced, Service is unwilling to fix or problem solve

Average but still nice

While I certainly was able to enjoy my meal, especially in the beginning, over time I really started noticing how the food didn’t settle too well into my body. I think it’s because it just wasn’t well balanced. The mash and gravy was waaaaay too coconutty. And I usually do like coconut flavor but it really was so overpowering in not a good way. The sandwiches also initially tasted nice but then I realized how little filling was in the bruschetta one. While the French dip was quite yum but also super salty, the bruschetta could’ve used some of that salt. Also, I would’ve actually liked thick pieces of mozzarella in there, not paper-thin ones. I liked the caeser salad but it got too acidic when eating more of it. I’m usually not that sensitive to saltiness, acidity etc. but the more I ate, the more it got to me; so it might be different depending on your level of sensitivity.

Maybe something else could’ve convinced me taste wise, the nachos on a neighboring table looked absolutely amazing for example, but there was no time since I’m traveling through town. Overall, the balance of flavors can be improved. Service was average and friendly, they didn’t seem as experienced yet.

The highest note!

The cucumber pistachio juice was an unexpected delightful and refreshing combination! We had the gyro, chips and hummus, along with a Caesar salad. All were delicious with the gyro rising to exceptional, better than the original meat version.
The real treasure here though is the staff and the wonderful vibe of this darling little place.

Pros: Welcoming and friendly staff, Interesting fresh juice flavors, Exudes vibes of joy and love

Only full vegan restaurant in Boise

Stopped by here for brunch and it didn’t disappoint. The food is made from scratch and is delicious. Large portions. Soups, salads, breakfast, quite a few options. The interior was not really my vibe, kind of dark, small, intimate, and no windows besides the front ones, but I’m sure when they have outdoor seating open it’s nice.

Pros: Large portions, Made from scratch food

Cons: Dark and tiny vibe inside

Enjoyed our Brunch

We ordered Scramble, blueberry pancake and tomato basil soup. Loved the scramble! Pancakes were delicious a not too sweet, perfect, husband particularly enjoyed the strawberry sauce. My toast and soup was nice - slightly on the sweeter side, so I had to put little salt in it to enhance taste - the toast was nice, if you are trying to eat healthy this is not the place but you will enjoy the calories you get here. Recommend!! #Veganuary

Pros: Scramble , Pancakes

Cons: A bit oily

Boise's First Fully Vegan Restaurant and Their Experience Shows!

High Note Cafe has become my favorite place to eat out. Their menu is full of American comfort food classics, all prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Everyone I've taken out here loves it!

I've tried a variety of dishes (I love that the menu is updated seasonally!) but my favorite are their pancakes/hotcakes and the soup of the day, served with incredibly flavorful, thick-cut housemade bread. Sometimes I can't decide which to order and just get both 🤤 In the summer, I indulge in a Berry & Herb Lemonade or Berry & Herb Iced Tea, and on cold days, I always get their hot tea, which comes with at least four different teas to choose from!

The portions are incredibly generous for the price, making it a great value. They give a discount if you pay with cash, as well; something to keep in mind for the budget-conscious. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and even remember my face after so many visits 🥰

While the cooking smells can linger on your clothes if you eat inside, the cozy-cool atmosphere and delicious food make it well worth it. The only other downside is that it can get quite cold if you're seated over an air vent. These things aren't an issue if you can get outdoor seating when the weather is nice!

I love visiting High Note Cafe at least once a month with friends & family to enjoy the delicious food and friendly atmosphere. (If they had delivery I'd be eating their food every week!) High Note Cafe is a true gem that I highly recommend.

Pros: stunningly delicious food & drink, both comfort and good nutrition in every dish, friendly staff

Cons: no delivery options, cooking smells get into your clothes, tables over air vents can be exceedingly cold

Only vegan restaurant in Boise.

The owner switched their restaurant to fully vegan in 2019 after watching Dominion. I thought that was pretty cool. This is the only fully vegan restaurant in Boise, and it's delicious and definitely deserves support.

I went there twice over the weekend. I was in Boise and got a super stuffed breakfast burrito and their scramble, and both were delicious.

Great service but okay food

Got a pesto sandwich with tomato soup. I asked for seitan instead of mushrooms. The sandwich was good but a little under seasoned, like the roasted pepper and pesto needed more salt. The seitan was a little rubbery, but did taste nice.

The tomato soup was honestly not great. It was pale and watery and unlike any tomato soup I have had. Other menu items might be better (like the breakfast burrito maybe) but what I ordered was just okay.

Definitely give them a try, the staff were very friendly and Boise's vegan scene could use the support!

Pros: Service, Speed, Portion sizes

Cons: Underseasoned, Pricy
