Necesario reservar - Edit

These feels like a very high end restaurant: beautiful decor and presentation. The food was good and well priced, but the flavors didn’t blow me away.

Best vegan food in Oaxaca and Chiapas - Edit
Delicious vegan food, most in small portions so you can taste several different dishes. After 4 weeks in Oaxaca and Chiapas this place is without a doubt the best restaurant we have found on our trip!

Wanted to lick the enmoladas plate clean - Edit
The enmoladas were fantastic with the best chocolatey mole sauce. I loved the horchata too. They have all sorts of Oaxaca food veganized so definitely make this place part of your trip.

Delicious, great atmosphere - Edit
Delicious and authentic Mexican food in a beautiful building (there is a covered courtyard or a lovely red-painted room overlooking the street). Quick and attentive service, beautiful plating and good portion sizes for a great price! We had guacamole, memelas, enfrijoladas and tetelas de quintonil - all delicious! Definitely recommend for a 'nicer' dinner in Oaxaca city.

Nice food, good choice - Edit
I went here with my husband for a quick lunch after a tour. Food was good and they brought it fairly quickly. Portion sizes were a little small but this might just be the options we picked. Price seemed fair for what we received. Would recommend.

Mole tasting is way too expensive - Edit
Good things first:
Read moreLocation is nice, stuff very friendly and the food tasted good. Looked like other meals are big enough and tasty as well.
BUT: we did the mole tasting (without mushrooms) which costs 450 pesos. For that price you get the amount of an entré and also for that price you could order 4 main courses.
To be honest for us it was disappointing and we will not return, even if the rest of the food looks good.
So: go there, but don’t do the tasting. It’s way overpriced!

Great atmosphere - Edit
The atmosphere is great, but you must have a reservation, there’s plenty of room but not many seats and prepare to wait ages for your food. Also the food was hit and miss…some was amazing, and some you could feet to your cat

Way overpriced - Edit
Unfortunately we walked away extremely unhappy after our diner at Hierba Dulce. But before I start explaining why I want to say that the quality of the food was good, the staff was friendly. BUT we have never felt more ripped off. We ordered the mole tasting, this was 600 pesos (30 US dollar) for that money you expect something since it is almost the price of two main courses. But it was so little we could not believe it. The waiters told us it would not be enough to order only this as a full meal, so we ordered the mushroom tacos extra (150 pesos) and also for this price you expect something but also this portion was less than a starter. So more than 40 dollar later and we still had the feeling that we had not eaten anything! We decided to go somewhere else to continue our diner, afraid that if we would order more this would not satisfy us.

Wonderful all-vegan menu, with lots of local vegan options, and specials from other regions!
Read moreWe had the enfrijoladas and the enchiladas de hoja Santa - both really yummy!
We also had the chocolate cake (which was interesting, more of a dense texture). With a lovely hot chocolate - the Oaxaca hot chocolate with almond milk was divine!!
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
- Update - we went for another meal:
This time we had the mushroom tacos & a really warming and hearty Guías soup. This was another lovely visit!!

Pretty disappointing to be honest! - Edit
So many good reviews here but not our experiemce unfortunately! The taste of the food we ordered was very bland and also a bit strange, in fact even the mojito we ordered tasted odd... the setting is nice its trendy and central and their story is good too but the food just wasnt interesting. The enchiladas and enfrijoaldas we had were basically just tortilla drowned in an average/strange tasting sauce - i didnt even want to finish what i had - see photos, by all means go yourselfs and try as everyone else was happy but we didnt like it and wouldnt go back.

Pretty place, pure food, but mole isn't really my thing - Edit
Beautiful garden and you can taste the food is really fresh and pure, but the taco's tasted just a bit stale and the mole was slightly watery. I also got confirmed I like mole on the side, but not as a main dish.

This was a wonderful welcome back to Oaxaca with some typical local cuisine. The palette takes getting used to - especially the flavourings of the different mole. It’s an elegant yet simple place and very popular. There’s a great variety of choice.
