Heather, the owner, was so friendly and guided me through my first time at Hey Sunshine. She recommended the Mediterranean Chickpea bowl and it so delicious. I had a sneaky Mac & Cheese on the side and it h comes with crispy onions on the top. Stop by if you can!

The owner was super-friendly. I got the BBQ Tofu bowl, which was superb. The pickled onions were a little sweet, but otherwise the veggies were good. We also tried the beef crumble bowl, which tasted like beyond meat and was also pretty good.
Read moreThe Mac was very similar to the standard American fake cheese Mac, I didn't enjoy it that much. Everything comes topped with some fried onions, which adds some oomph.

Cute restaurant close to Sony. The service was amazing, and the food delicious. Had the BBQ tofu bowl and of course saved room for dessert. I wish I had tried more, everything I had was spot on. If you are in the neighborhood you have to try it out.

I'll be honest. I was being a bit of a restaurant snob, and initially hesitated to try Hey, Sunshine Kitchen because of its location in a shopping center breezeway. But it's close to my home and has good reviews, so I gave it a try.

I've tried three bowls so far and have loved them all. Full of fresh, interesting, finely crafted ingredients with a variety of flavors, texture, and color, I found them tastier than the offerings at many "fine dining" restaurants offering similar fare. I've had the Fiesta Carnitas and the Backyard BBQ Tofu so far and enjoyed them both. My wife had the Chicken Caesar, which of course I tasted as well. I don't need my meals to contain a "meat-like" substitute, but the vegan "chicken" in the salad was really the best I've ever tasted. I think it could easily pass for the real thing.
I went back a few days ago and tried the Hot Chicken sandwich. It was tasty enough, but I probably won't order it again. It was fried, and exactly what I expected, but definitely not the healthiest choice I could have made.
My “lunch drink of choice” is iced tea, and HSK serves a delicious Spiced Hibiscus Iced Tea as well as unsweetened Green Tea and two lemonades.
The restaurant is owned by sisters Jenny and Heather, who have been teaching the art of vegan cooking for many years. Their infectious enthusiasm for the venture shines as they supervise, take orders, and carry food to tables. Their experience and dedication translate to some really fine vegan fare!

What a great menu! Loved the BBQ bowl and “Fish” taco! Cookie was scrumptious! Service was unbelievably fast! Prices are very comfortable! I will make this a new regular lunch or dinner spot! Also this is my first review of any restaurant and I’ve used Happy Cow for years! I had to share in case any of you needed reassurance! It’s worth a visit!

We ordered the Fiesta Carnitas, Backyard BBQ Tofu bowls, the Mediterranean chickpea sandwich, and the Baja fish taco. Everything was delicious, the chickpea patty was salty but good. The bowls were very good portion sizes. We (veg and non veg) would all come back for another round!

Sister owned, delicious food, great portion sizes. I had the carnitas bowl, chickpea nuggets, and had to try the sprinkle chocolate chip cookie. Nothing disappointed. The bowl was amazing, chickpea nuggets were like a 2 in 1 flavor experience (fitting considering the sisters previously ran a cooking school), and the cookie was a divine finish to the meal. Will definitely be back!

This all vegan cafe has everything you would want from healthy bowls to decadent comfort foods like mac and cheese. I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Mac and Cheese which were both delicious. I especially liked the fried onion topper on the Mac and Cheese. The restaurant is brand new so the interior and outdoor seating is very nice and clean. The servers provided excellent service as well. You won’t be disappointed if you visit.

The whole vibe of this place lives up to its name. The sisters who own and operate HSK are super friendly and made us feel so at home. The staff are also incredibly attentive and kind. One of the cooks came around the corner from the kitchen and asked us how everything was tasting. We were happy to report that we were blown away by the food. I had a create your own bowl. Love that the Sunshine Rice (my choice for base) is a homemade recipe, as well as the different sauces you can choose from. I had the tangy carrot sauce. These proprietary components make their food special and allowed me to taste some truly original flavor combinations! The blueberry lemonade was refreshing and the raspberry lemon cake was divine. Will be visiting every time we come down to LA!

You go up to the counter and order, they give you a number for your table and bring your food to you. They have sandwiches, bowls, sides and freshly made lemonades plus a couple baked desserts. Got the hot chicken sandwich and a couple of sides and everything was delicious! The fresh lemonades were perfect. I will definitely come back to try their bowls , they have good of variety of those and you can build your own if you want. Cute place for quick casual lunch or dinner!

Read moreNow let's talk about the food. The Chicken Caesar Salad Bowl was a flavor explosion! I love a bowl with a little bit of everything, and this one was just perfect -- grilled plant-based chicken, grilled broccoli, purple cabbage, sweet potato, shredded carrots, slivered almonds, croutons, massaged kale, house pickles, lime wedge, pistachio caesar. And my husband, the (vegan) fried chicken sandwich aficionado, said theirs was the absolute best he's ever had. Seriously, he tries them everywhere!
Our kids loved their tofu bowls (plus the mac and cheese + broccoli we bought to send as their lunch the next day), and the cookies were an instant hit with them too. Soft, chewy, and the perfect amount of gooey.
Supporting Hey Sunshine Kitchen is a no-brainer. The food is fantastic, the owners are awesome, and it's a wonderful place that deserves to thrive. So, go check it out and let your taste buds do a happy dance!
