Perfect spot for vegan food - Edit
The food is really great. I like the menu, everything is vegan unless stated otherwise. The location is perfectly situated close to beautiful hiking trails in south Limburg. Staff is amazing, super friendly. Also our dog was welcomed warmly.

With a vegan club we had a wonderful lunch after a hike. I ordered the latte macchiato with pumpkin spices, berry smoothie, non-chicken salad and vegan snickers bar.

Prima vegan high tea - Edit
We zijn hier in oktober geweest voor een vegan high tea. Deze was prima verzorgd. We kregen het niet op en konden de restjes meenemen. Personeel was vriendelijk, maar we vonden het op dat moment minder gezellig. Mogelijk omdat er weinig bezoekers waren. Waren we op een ander moment gekomen, dan hadden we het misschien anders ervaren.

Wij waren hier bij Valentijnsdag en hebben zeer genoten van een uitgebreid aanbod. Het eten was zeer lekker en de inrichting was heel gezellig, geheel in Valentijn-thema. De bediening was top, super vriendelijk en hadden goede kennis van veganisme. Aanrader!

I do understand why (in this area) a fully vegan place would be hard to attract enough customers..😒Even now it wasn’t busy, so show them some love! We need to support places like this😉
The menu consists of traditional Limburg cuisine (very nostalgic for me) like zuurvlees and other bourgondic dishes that hit the right spot. All their pastries are vegan too!
The owner(s)/staff were so friendly and have a perfect understanding of vegan food.

It’s not so common to find a restaurant with loads of vegan options in a small village, so hats off to Het Slimme Schaap for the great effort. While the options were pretty basic (fries, salads, vegan schnitzel, etc) the food was good and the staff super friendly. Nice homely atmosphere too. Would go again.

Mijn man en ik gaan hier altijd heel graag naar toe! Heel veel keuze op de kaart qua eten, zoet maar ook hartig! Iedere keer weer is er een andere variatie van verschillend vegan gebak! Heel fijn ook.is dat er op de kaart bij staat welk drinken vegan is! Wij hebben dan ook meerdere feestje hier gevierd, onze corona bruiloft, onze gender reveal en zelfs mijn baby shower. Het personeel is heel erg en staat ook klaar voor een babbeltje! Heel fijn ook is dat kinderen en honden welkom zijn! Dus na een wandeling in het bos van elsloo kan je lekker bijkomen bij het Slimme schaap!

The reason I really wanted to eat here was that they have a vegan version of a classic dish from the region on their menu (zuurvlees). I liked it a lot! The ambiance is nice and portions are good (I expected them to be quite small because I read some reviews that mention small portions so I ordered a big portion but I could only finish it with the help of my partner). The person who took our orders told us she's vegan herself so that might explain why they have a vegan version of almost every dish on the menu. If I'm ever nearby I'll definitely visit again.

Absolutely love Het Slimme Schaap. The food is good and the ambiance is cozy. It is definitely worth a visit for either lunch or dinner. Always a lot of choices in vegan desserts and the ice cream (especially the pistache one) is delicious.
