Had diner at the tipi tent with the company I’m working for. Before going my colleague had called the restaurant to make sure they had vegan options. The staff was well prepared. I was surprised by the food. The starter was bread, olives and a vegan pumpkin soup. As a main they served several small dishes like muhamara, portobello with parsnip purree and a very delicious Tahini cream with mushroom kebab. Foie gras op het menu 🚫 - Edit
Na aanleiding van de recensies wilde ik hier gaan eten toen ik in Roosendaal moest zijn, maar na het zien van het menu niet gedaan. Er staan 4 vegetarische gerechten op het menu waarvan één vegan kan worden gemaakt. Enkele bijgerechten zijn misschien vegan. En er is een vegan dessert.
Read moreOok serveren ze foie gras. Nu lijden alle dieren in de vee industrie een afschuwelijk leven, maar de eenden en ganzen die voor foie gras worden gehouden lijden zo erg. Ik zou nooit gaan eten bij een restaurant dat dat op het menu heeft.

What a lovely cosy setting at Hooihuis! You wouldn't expect it from the location and the exterior but on the inside this location is very cosy. Due to the large number of tables it seems also ideal for celebrations.
Read moreThe restaurant was full, but they kindly let us wait in the lounge area for a table to become available. Which only took about 15min and we could order appetizers and drinks, which were also served very fast. So no reason to get hungry ;)
Staff is very attentive and it is nice to see they have some vegan dishes on the menu. But they are willing to think along, eventhough there you have to take into account that they will just omit items. Which is a pity as they do their utmost best to dish a complete experience with one dish. So would recommend the vegan dishes from the menu.
We had the pappadum with hummus and the edamame as appetizers. Tasty but a bit oily.
As the main dish we had 3 tasting platters and 2 side dishes. Namely the vegan dishes roasted cauliflower which was very creamy and delicious, the leek with miso which had an interesting combination of flavours and textures. Lastly the asparagus with sea vegetables was adapted and egg and sauce were left out to make it vegan. Tasty but a bit pricy for 3 asparagus.
The side dishes were also on point, especially the carrot dish with apricots was very tasty. The green salad was good but a bit plain. There was also vegan dessert but we were already full.
Definitely recommend this place when you want to have a bit more special and expensive meal on the area. Perfect for a special occasion or to take non veg friends.

We had a lovely evening here. Service was friendly and helpful. Our server told us to take 3 or 4 dishes for dinner but as everything is quite filling I would recommend taking 3 at most and count the side dishes as one of those as well and not as an extra item on top of those 3 like we did...
Read moreMost veggie dishes already were vegan or could easily be made vegan by omitting one item. We tried most of them and everything was delicious. Nothing seemed store bought and vegetables were all perfectly cooked.
