All vegan fast food

All vegan fast food which isn’t brilliant, emphasis on fast! Burgers are not that great and chips were covered in so much paprika that the were not that edible

Pros: All very

Cons: Thrown together , Too much paprika on fries , Smash burger patties are skinny

Can’t believe it’s not real milk! 🌱

Delicious food, great range and such lovely staff. As a lactose intolerant gal, cannot recommend the bbq mac and cheese enough! 🫶

Great selection of feel good food

We visited York for a week and fancied a cosy night in with a takeaway. This hit the spot perfectly! They have a really good selection of junk food options and it arrived nice and hot (impressive for takeaway chips)!

We had loaded fries, mac a cheese and ribs to share between 2 and it was loads.

Best burger ever

I've been vegan for 5-6 years now and the chicken burger I got here was absolutely the best one I've ever had.

Even non-vegans should be all over this - that's how nice it was.

The burger was huge and so ordering the Philadelphia loaded fries to go with it was probably too much food. But the fries were also amazing so I ploughed through!

If I'm in York again this will be my first choice for food!

Pros: The burgers, The fries, The service

Cons: Don't accept cash, Boring drink selection

Fantastic Festive Food

We had the Christmas Cracker Burger and the Hog Roast Sandwich. The cracker burger had a beautiful blend of festive flavours, it was crunchy and tender in all the right ways! The Hog Roast Sandwich was beautiful, it had apple sauce and mayo which I thought was a strange combination but it actually worked perfectly, it was the right amount of sweet and savoury, delicious! I took some pictures but cannot figure out how to add them unfortunately

Incredible seitan!

Possibly the best seitan I've ever had, the ribs and wings were incredible. Loved the buffalo wings on cheesy fries (the cheesy sauce was the best I've ever had). The kimchi burger was perfectly crispy.

Really excellent homemade vegan junk food.

Great mac & cheese

Had the mac and cheese with bbq seitan here and it was so flavoursome! Could tell that it was made fresh as well. The mac and cheese on its own was a little bland, so would recommended ordering one with flavour (bbq/bacon) but overall the food was great and good value for money.

Spicy treat

The korean BBQ burger was crispy but still moist inside. The kimchee and siracha mayo perfectly complemented the burger adding a spice and depth. The spicy fries were the star of the show though, with chilli flakes, tiny pepperdew and jalepenos in abundance, balanced by a garlic mayo.
The sparks is a little dingy, but worth the visit. Overall it was expensive at £20 for a burger and fries, but compared to the likes of fat hippo it stands up.
Great choice, fantastic taste snd generous portions.

Best seitan ever

As many vegans, I’ve had a lot of seitan junk food. However I think the chicken and the wings might be the best I’ve had. They both taste distinct and full of flavour. Strawberry lemonade was lovely as well. Paprika fries were some of the nicest fries I’ve had in a long time. Bit of a wait for the food but it really was worth it.

Pros: Best seitan I’ve tried , Just really good food , Accommodating of menu swaps

Cons: Slight wait for the food

Overpriced and mushy

The burger was very mushy and collapsed when you lifted it. The döner loaded fries weren't particularly tasty either, but ok. Relatively small, overpriced portions. 1 star for the fact that the stand is purely vegan. 1 star for the fact that no plastic dishes are used, but rather paper and wooden forks.

A Real Vegan Treasure in York

Herbivorous Spark is a real vegan treasure in York! We visited every day during our holiday, and Mike, the manager was always friendly helpful and kind. The portions of cheesy fries and paprika fries are generous, well priced and super tasty. We particularly love their "mushroom steak" topping!
My personal favourite is the BBQ Ribs Loaded Mac, very sticky and succulent.
We wish they would open a branch in London.

Amazing vegan junk food but…

Herbivorous had some amazing vegan junk food but we unfortunately they lacked a lot of the menus items when we visited so couldn’t have what we wanted and had to customise orders.
We ended up just having the plain mac and cheese as they were missing toppings and some loaded fries!
All of which were delicious and flavourful, but it was a shame we couldn’t have what we wanted

Pros: Amazing loaded fries, Great seitan, 10/10 Mac and cheese

Cons: Lack of menu items

Mixed reviews from me & my husband

We settled on 4/5 for this one as I wanted to give 3 and he wanted to give 5 ⭐️
I had the spicy fries, he had the chilli cheesesteak fries and we shared the loaded mac & cheese.

The mac & cheese was bland (as lots of reviews have said) but the seitan topping was nice - they just need to add some nooch to the sauce! 🧀
Spicy fries were okay but nothing special. 🌶️
Apparently the chiili cheesesteak fries were ‘delicious and ‘bottomless’’ 🍟

Pros: Decent portions, Chilli cheesesteak fries, Fun location

Cons: Bland mac & cheese, Quite pricey for what it is, Loud venue

Was ok, quite nice but wouldn't rush back

We really liked the venue and the relaxed feel and always try to visit local vegan establishments when visiting a new place.

It's possible we've been spoiled in other places as we weren't bowled over by the food.

We both had a seitan burger and I was a bit disappointed that the patty had been shaped to look like two chicken drum sticks (I appreciate that this might only be off putting for a few people). The seitan itself was quite thick and so didn't have the best texture and was too salty for my liking.

My partner enjoyed his burger (the Nashville hot) but said it would have been better with more salad etc.

We also tried the mac n cheese with facon and this didn't really have any flavour besides, bizarrely, vinegar. The texture of the sauce wasn't smooth and we thought it would be improved by boiling the cashews for longer before blending them.

Anyway, it wasn't awful, it was edible and I wonder if we visited at a bad time as other reviews seem more favourable.

Pros: Great venue, Dog friendly, All vegan

Cons: Textures of the mac n cheese, Prices were quite high for the quality of the dish

Comfort food

Definitely comfort food. Interesting menu you don't see often enough. My philly cheese steak chips tasted good if a bit brown and unappetising to look at. My non-vegan partner did not enjoy his southern fried chicken, too much seitan in a big lump is a difficult texture, it would have been more pleasant for him in thinner slices. The roll was so soft it just fell apart when it was picked up. Needs more veg for colour and less salt. Great venue though, well worth a visit.

Pros: Cashew sauce and beef seitan had great taste, Good menu. Don't often see this sort of food., Great venue

Cons: Brown looking and unappetising , Not enough veg, what was there was overcooked., Fries overcooked and brittle

Herby Rides Again

A junk food treat in times of self-moderation. I had the Philly Chilli Cheesesteak. Delicious thinly sliced succulent beef steak style seitan (even though I do think I make it better at home) on a bed of spicy and salty chips with jalapeños, mayo and sautéed peppers and onions. Drizzled in cashew cheese this was a glass elevator moment.

Fantastic Fast Food

Really tasty vegan junk food. It’s a fantastic option on a summer day, you can have a nice drink from one of the bars too. My mac’n’cheese was lovely.

Okay!

Give the macaroni a miss it was cold and bland. However the bacon on top was good, I think the dirty fries and burger have would be better.
The corn ribs were lovely!

A funky place to eat and drink

We went straight here upon arrival in York. Really tasty vegan fast food in an enjoyable setting. Friendly staff.
The food was great albeit perhaps a little salty. It didn't stop us eating it or it being delicious, but the salt probably needs reigning in a bit.

There are so many comments here about the food being very salty that it's surprising that the owners haven't done something about it. Thanks for the warning, folks!
