I absolutely adored the food, some of the best I have ever tasted. Whilst it is billed as a 7 course, you essentially get 14 courses. All celebrating the flavour of Indonesian (Balinese) fruit and veg. Many that you may never have heard of or had the pleasure of trying. Everything tasted so fresh and was presented with craft.
The staff were knowledgeable about each course and provided information throughout.
We did not have the drinks pairing but opted to try some drinks from their menu. I recommend trying their cocktails, light and fruity and may he’s the food we served.
Note: They do use honey in some dishes, you can request not to have honey when booking.

This was one of the best fine dining experiences in my life! I loved the artistic presentation of the courses as well as the creativity and flavor of each dish. The service and the ambience are also exceptional. The only minor "criticism" I had was the drink pairing which I would only recommend if you are into sake, otherwise you ate better off with ordering by glass.

A Michelin star level dining experience. The food was excellent. A real insight into a variety of Indonesian fruits, vegetables and nuts. Very interesting to follow along with a little ‘field guide’ on the web, which tells you about the different ingredients you are tasting. Could not recommend this place enough, I would go out of my way to visit again. A very special venue, and well priced for what you get.

It's very pricey ($176 for two people, one with a drink pairing), but it was really something special. They say it's a 7-course menu, but they count the 4 appetizers and 5 desserts as one course each, so there were actually 14 items served. Each was a work of art, and unlike anything I've had before. Definitely worth it! My only complaint is that they don't have a "normal" drink menu - there's the set drink pairing (with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options) and then a small and kind of weird mocktail list. It was quite an affair to get them to make me an iced tea.

A Plant-Based Treasure! - Edit
I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Herbivore by Locavore in May, and I was blown away by the experience! I opted for the long menu with a non-alcoholic drink pairing, and every dish was a delightful surprise. The creativity in using local ingredients was astounding; the tempeh main was absolutely exquisite, and the desserts were not only delicious but also visually stunning.

Thank you, Herbivore, for bringing such an interesting cuisine to Ubud. It’s a unique voyage through incredible flavors, all made with local and vegan products—what an admirable challenge! The result is nothing short of mind-blowing. Highly recommended!

A fun experience! Not for an empty belly! - Edit
First time fine dining and how cool that I could be able to go to an all vegan restaurant. I’m definitely not a fine diner I’m more of a portion size so, the art style of the food and the appreciation to create was very well noticed and thanked. I had a great giggle with one of the dishes as most of it was ice, bhaha. Having done this I shall return to my normal meals. Very expensive!

While there are other fine dining venues in Ubud, if you want a dining experience, then come to Herbivore.
Read moreIt may be relatively expensive, and the portions are small, but you will not go away hungry, and you will be mesmerised by the creative detail and flavours. The list of all the components used would be very extensive, which all adds to the experience.
We had the matching alcoholic drinks. Some were quite light, all a little funky, but they paired nicely with the dishes.
The young staff were delightful, friendly, and professional. Given that you have 14 servings, you get to deal with them a lot. Well done, team.

Interesting and tasty food - Edit
Really enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu. It’s more like 14 courses as you get lots of snack courses to try too. The flavours were genuinely very interesting and new to me. All beautiful presented too. I felt the courses were lacking a few carbs but given the amount of food it was filling in the end. We also got the alcohol pairing, and although knew it was going to be rice based alcohol, didn’t realise it would all be strong / sake based. Unless you’re a huge fan of sake, I am not sure I’d recommend the pairing as it’s quite niche!

Truly delicious food 😌 - Edit
The food is absolutely amazing. The flavour combinations, the effort that has been put into creating such an amazing menu, the atmosphere, the very friendly head chef, all of these combined makes the experience of dining here unforgettable. Yes, the food is small (so don’t turn up absolutely starving) but it will leave you satisfied for sure. Book in advance.

We had the long menu with the drink pairing. Everything was excellent the food was fresh featuring all local produce and flavors. This was an experience close to what we have experienced at Eleven Madison Park in NYC, flavor wise they really do a fantastic job. If you want Michelin quality food standards for a small fraction of the price this is a great place to try out!

Amazing food even for a non vegetarian - Edit
My wife and I visited Herbivore in Ubud and we had a truly amazing experience. While I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, this food was out-of-this world good. We got the long menu with non alcoholic drink pairing. It tasted better than some Michelin Star restaurants we've visited. Wow.

Must try resto in Ubud! - Edit
Ubud is offering so many nice places to eat for vegans but I have to say herbivore is my favorite. I tried after a friend recommended me and I am sooo glad I did. They offer a unique set menu (5 or seven dishes ) that comes with lots of small snacks, sweet and savoury.

This is a place where you get a plant based set menu experience, this is beyond my expectations because this is the first plant based dinner experience. Everything felt amazing and felt like an unforgettable trip. From the start the staff has greeted you in a friendly manner, you are given 2 choices of short/long menu and beverage pairing selection. I took the Long Menu with alcohol pairing, they said they use housemade ingredients. the alcohol is superb. what sticks out to me the most is soursop amazake, I like the taste, soft texture and refreshing taste. keep it up Herbivore!🤩✨
