Too expensive

The shop is ridiculously overpriced. In addition, the vegan items could do with being marked a bit more clearly e.g. get a different colour card for your vegan produce or clearly list egg/dairy in the ingredients of the veggie stuff. The staff don't seem to understand why a vegan would not want a vegetarian item. I did not feel at all comfortable here. I unfortunately cannot recommend this place.

Pros: They don't sell meat

Cons: Expensive, Clearer distinction needed , between vegan & vegetarian products

Nice vegan find!

So this is one of three restaurants owned under the name Hendersons. It is the only 100% vegan of the three. One of the other restaurants has an emphasis on salads and the third is casual counter order dining. The first day we tried to get into the 100% establishment they were completely booked for lunch. I would definitely suggest making a reservation. So, we tried the counter service dining. We ordered the vegan Haggis with mashed potatoes and gravy as well as the squash soup and a salad from the counter. All were good. Not sure what vegan Haggis is supposed to be like but it was a little mushy. The following day we were able to get into the 100% vegan restaurant with a reservation. The menu is small, but the food was very good. We had the raw ravioli with cashew cheese filling, the mushroom soup and the bread plate with cashew cheese. Everything was very flavorful and great service.

Good but expensive

The food was okay for its price. The vegan sheperd's pie was good, although the place definitely lacks vegan options.

Fine dining

Just few steps away from High St lies this new branch of Henderson's - just enough to be a bit off, so there aren't any flows of tourists right in front of it.
Henderson's is a fine dining restaurant, providing sophisticated food for upper prices.
I don't know about the lunch menu, but there aren't many vegan options for dinner. One main dish only, to be precise: vegan shepherd's pie. Nicely done, nice to look at, but then again not really persuading. Not bad, not so great either.
It's not so expensive as David Bann's, but also not that exquisite.
Overall an alright experience: food good, service good. Yet, I don't feel the strong urge to return.
There is no comparison to the exceptional vegan branch of Henderson's on Thistle st.

Pros: decent food

Cons: underwhelming range of vegan options

Satisfying

Went here with a sceptical omnivore friend who ended up really enjoying their baked sweet potato with black beans, sweet corn, cheese and rocket. I had the same and it was satisfying and pleasant for lunch, though I was surprised at how basic it was for the price (just as described, no frills) having heard a lot about Hendersons, as could easily have made the dish at home. Still, that's part of the charm too I suppose - it shows folks how easy it is to be vegan. Almost had the restaurant to ourselves but was early in the day (midday). Pleasant staff.

Pros: All vegetarian or vegan food, Shows non-vegans how easy it is to be vegan

Cons: Not as innovative with food options as I'd thought
