Wonderful food - Edit
Whilst visiting relatives in Dunfermline, we went sight seeing in Edinburgh for the day. I was so glad to come across the the renowned Hendersons cafes.
It's a great wholefood, organic, veg*n cafe , with friendly, helpful staff. Nice decor and atmosphere.
I had the Vegetarian Haggis wrap with mixed salads ( They did a lunch time meal deal) and a cold drink .
It was very tasty , wholesome and satisfying. Even my friend who is a meat eater enjoyed there vegan lunch.
I shall definitely seek them out again when in Edinburgh
Pros: Nice helpful staff, Lovely food, Good price
Cons: Not easy to find unless you know where it is.

Fringe pit-stop - Edit
As an Edinburgh resident, I've been meaning to check out this latest addition to this well-established, local, family - run chain. Looking for somewhere to have lunch between two Festival Fringe shows, this seemed a good bet, being off the main drag of the High Street/Canongate. It was a great choice; not too busy despite it being 1.15pm on a Sunday lunchtime during the Festival. I ordered the quiche of the day (tofu and broccolli) and two salads (a green salad and a beansprout and ginger salad that also included grated carrot), was given a number and took a seat at the window. This was perfect for watching the world go by whilst dining alone. The restaurant is in the ground floor of a modern block of flats but is tastefully furnished with mid-century and 'found' pieces. It took a short while to arrive but my meal was worth the wait; simple but flavoursome. The gentleman who brought it was charming. There was plenty tap water available. My total bill was £7.95. There are lots of vegan options, too. I would definitely come here again.

Chic, relaxed café with lots of tasty vegan options! - Edit
Great selection of vegan lunches (burgers, soups, curries/stews, salads etc) and, more importantly... Cakes! Clearly labeled which options are vegan. Had the haggis burger and chocolate brownie, which were both very tasty with a lovely texture. Would definitely recommend for lunch/afternoon tea (good selection of leaf teas) and they also have a breakfast/brunch menu. Relaxed atmosphere, chic décor and friendly service.

organic is best - Edit
as i've got older i've become a sucker for good food, so henderson does it for me.
The new brach of henderson is a great space, light come flooding in leaving you feeling all positive and calm ( or maybe it is just getting old). i arrived for lunch it was a wee bit busy but staff were smiley and polite. I opted for the haggis burger wrap which seemed huge when it arrived, but i felt good eating it as it wasn't all bread. a mixture of slaw, salad, humous and burger gave an array of tastes in the mouth, sweet and yet still savoury.
i recently visited vegfest in glasgow and although i had a great time, i really thought there was a lot of crap food out there, veggie but not healthy. not everything at henderson is super healthy, but you really do feel they give a shit about what they offer. it's not all bout profit, it's old school, but whats wrong with that.
Pros: organic, staff , food
