Good place but I didn’t love it - Edit
I really wanted to love this place and I absolutely love the atmosphere, but unfortunately the food and drink didn’t impress me much. The chai latte lacked flavor and tasted only like oat milk to me and I didn’t love the carrot cake (maybe a personal preference with that one). I’d love to come here again and try something new, but I wouldn’t get the chai or carrot cake again.

Iced Flat white war gottlos, veganes Karotten-Brödel war hammer - das panini war das beste vegane panini welches je die heiligen Hallen meines Mäulchens betreten hat! Bei Gott von dem werde ich träumen!

Wir waren da für's Mittagessen und haben uns entschieden ein veganes Mozzarella Tomaten Sandwich zu nehmen und ein Flammkuchen Sandwich, alles hat so lecker geschmeckt.

Read moreAnyone on a diet will hate this place, but they probably have something for you too. Otherwise, it's a dream. This is pretty much how I imagine croissant heaven. Luckily, we don't live in Cologne, otherwise I'd spend all my money there.

Ist denke ich eine Geschmackssache, bei uns gab es kein wunschlos glückliches Match, aber vielleicht ja bei anderen :)

We chose some tea a special pumpkin spice latte, chocolate croissant and the pretzel stick “noras garden”.
I wasn’t a big fan of the chocolate croissant, cause I disliked the chocolate cream. I neither liked the taste nor the texture. I hope for a better try next time.
Staff was lovely and friendly.

Cozy inside vibe, was able to work on my laptop as well (theres a sign on certain tables saying "no laptop" on Saturdays and Sundays) with decent WiFi. More importantly, the food was excellent, I had a carrot sandwich which I believe replicates salmon (and did so very well, much better than other carrot salmon alternatives if previously tried) and a croissant with salami/cheese/tomato served hot. Wir waren heute wieder im Hempies. Leider akzeptieren die keine Barzahlung mehr. Hinzu kommt noch das die nicht alle gängigen Karten akzeptieren. Ich konnte mit meiner Amex nicht bezahlen. Das man mittlerweile schon kein Bargeld nimmt find ich nicht gut, aber das man dann noch vorher fragen muss, welche Karten akzeptiert werden. Daher muss ich den Laden leider abwerten. Essen war super.

Wir hatten ein belegtes Croissant mit Gouda und Salami (ok aber eher langweilig) und ein ziemlich tolles Baguette mit hausgemachtem Mozzarella. Qualitativ war irgendwie ein ziemlicher Sprung zwischen den beiden Gerichten und ich hatte das Croissant daher leider ein * Abzug. Vielleicht bin ich ja nicht alleine mit der Meinung und das Croissant wird nochmal überarbeitet😉

Completely incompetent staff, unable to remember orders, super long lines, then they pull people who just want to pay but end up buying something else. When we finally got to the front of the line, they had to wash the dishes first. And when everything was paid for, they no longer had the items.

One of the loveliest cafés I've ever been to! Their selection was amazing, it's not huge but everything they do offer is so special, I love the creative croissants and that they have both very good sweet and also savory options. I would love to try everything they have to offer. The café is cozy and staff is sweet, it was very crowded but that only showed that the café is deservingly popular. I had the Bienenstich latte, Kimchi croissant and a donut, everything was delicious!!! would get the bienenstich latte everytime I go there honestly, when I'm in cologne I will definitely return to Hempies and also recommend it to everyone I know
