Enjoyable

Lots of tasty vegan options in a quintessentially American atmosphere

Great Experience

I'm told that the owners are a vegetarian and an omni, respectively, which is why this place is so accommodating! They offer vegan chick'n tenders with a variety of spices, as well as an amazing tofu dish! Another reviewer complained of the latter being too spicy, but I'd just like to say I didn't find it hot at all. People have different tastes, of course, but maybe the ingredients changed or perhaps the previous reviewer was very sensitive to spice. Another option for those in that situation would be the hummus/veggie platter. It's light, yes, but it's better than what vegans are often stuck with imo! Anyway, I enjoy it here and it's an excellent option when you're eating in a group with vegans/vegetarians/omnis all together.

Wonderful place to take all diet types

Took two US Marines, one a big meat eater, one a vegan. Both ordered the vegan menu items. They are still talking two months later, about the delicious food. Found Hempen Hill on Happy Cow so decided to give it a try while in Hagerstown. The meat eater had the smoked tofu dish which he said was fantastic and is still talking about the tofu. Other also said the hempen onion rings and chili mac were wonderful. Service from staffer was top notch despite them closing for a special function that evening. I had the harvest salad which was filling and delicious. Everyone enjoyed the food and would like to return.

Only If You Like It Hot

The vegan items here are all really spicy. The hummus, black bean burger and smoked thai peanut sauce tofu are very hot. No options for me. Just because it's vegan doesn't mean it has to burn your mouth to be good. Waiter asked but chef could not suggest anything. A friend that likes spice enjoyed the tofu.

Pros: Hot spice lovers will like it.

Cons: You will be stuck with another salad and baked pot, This is a BBQ place, you will see and smell a lot
