Good find

We ate here 3 times during our time in Ollantaytambo and were grateful for its existence. Tough to eat in Olly as vegan. We had the quinoa porridge which was very good, we also asked about the breakfast sausage: “Hecha con huevo?” the waiter was quick to answer no. I think we also had the veggie burger which was fine. Bread seems to be pretty crap all around in Peru so I won’t fault them for that. I will deduct points because they were not open one morning when the hours said they would when we desperately wanted food. “Peruvian time” seems to be a very real thing here...

Pros: Convenient , Price

Cons: In accurate hours posted

Pretty good

We came here for a late lunch after arriving in Ollantaytambo and had the veggie burger, which was very filling and came with plenty of salad! It was a bit of a shame that there was no vegan markings on the menu but the waiter seemed to understand and wiling to adapt vegetarian options so it worked out alright.

Cosy atmosphere, ideal after climbing Machu Picchu

I was in need of a warm and cosy restaurant after a very long day of trekking Machu Picchu and a train ride. The room upstairs had a very nice layout and was overlooking some parts of the city. I ordered the quinoa soup and some potato fries. It was simple and good although fries were not handmade which was surprising for Peru. I didn't eat the toasts that came with the soup as the bread contained milk.

Pros: Central location , warm, most vegetarian items can be veganised

Great vegan-vegetarian friendly charity restaurant

GET THE VEGGIE BURGER! It is tasty, filling and healthy!
We also recommend the burritos, the hummus sandwich, veggie sausages, soups, veggie lasagna... everything!
The staff is really helpful and friendly and they are involved in community work.
It is a recommended spot to chill out, there is plenty of seat, wifi, nice coffees and beautiful views.

Vegan note: all their bread has egg (at least in 2015). Ask to make sure.

Pros: THE veggie burger, Vegan friendly, ready to adapt, Charity status

Cons: Bread no vegan, No vegan desserts

delicious

Delicious food, with a menu that had lots of vegetarian options clearly noted. I had the hummus sandwich which had a really nice fruit chutney. My husband had the vegetarian sausages on a bed of sweet fried rice which he tells me was amazing. We also drank a pitcher of purple sweetcorn juice which was so nice. highly recommended.

Pros: Lots of vegetarian options; well labelled; English

Cons:

Ollantaytambo restaurant with a heart

WE are vegans in our 60's and visited Heart Cafe in Ollantaytambo. As mentioned it was founded by an Englishwoman. Among her vegetarian offerings we found some nice breakfast items and lunch/dinner food. We loved the oatmeal with quinoa porridge and the burrito with beans…you can get either white or brown rice so if you want brown rice, be sure to ask for it. All the desserts are not vegan. The soups are good and hit the spot. The wait staff is helpful and friendly. This was our go to restaurant in Ollantaytambo. This is a MUST SEE town.

Pros: good vegan soup, nice waitstaff, Fabulous town

Cons: no vegan desserts, more vegan options would be nice
