Fresh and Healthy

As the name suggests, this is a place to go for a light, healthy meal. Albeit, they do serve meat, so there's a whole oxymoron argument there. Nonetheless, what I order here is unarguably healthy.

First, vegans need to know that all of their smoothies and bowls are made with Greek yogurt, so you have to specify that you want almond milk instead of the yogurt. There was a $1.50 upcharge for this swap, which is not listed on the menu, nor was it mentioned when I ordered. This peeved me. Automatic -point there.

I did a BYO bowl with acai, almond milk, flaxseed, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, kiwi, and agave. It was $12 plus the additional $1.50 for almond milk instead of cow yogurt (insert eye-roll here). All of the fruit was exceptionally fresh. I like that they have an agave option. (But they offer honey too.)

Other vegan breakfast options would be loaded oatmeal (make with almond milk; no need to swap, but double check just in case). There is a loaded breakfast toast option and an avocado toast option too, but I'm awaiting confirmation that their bread is vegan-friendly. Also, loaded just means fruits and nuts or berries.

Salads - vegans can get a suitable salad by omitting any cheeses, meats, and likely the croutons. The only vegan friendly salad dressing are the balsamic and raspberry walnut vinaigrettes, so you'll have to swap those too or use your own. I wish they’d offer a vegan protein for the salads.

The prices for the oatmeal and toast are reasonable. The prices for the smoothies, smoothie bowls, and salads are on the high side, imo. It could be argued that this is because of them using fresh, not frozen fruits. But are they organic? There is nothing in the description to indicate organic ingredients are being used. IF they are using organic produce or even mostly organic, this could definitely justify the price tag, but they need to clarify that.

Despite my grievances with a few things, this place is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area because this area doesn't have much to offer for vegans. I do hope that they'll continue to improve and expand their vegan options, starting with nixing that almond milk upcharge. Like, c'mon people!
