We were shocked to learn that the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world! I would have thought that the oldest restaurant would be in India, where most vegetarian live and where the largest number of people are vegetarian.
Read moreWe had to visit this restaurant when we were in Zurich. The inside vibe is so good. The tables were being constantly cleaned. The buffet was being topped with fresh or new items. After we filled our plates they were weighed and paid for. A bit expensive but the quality of the food was top notch. Most of the dishes we tried were vegan and were very good. The flavour, some spicy dishes were very well spiced (not too hot spice).
Some dishes were Indian, Thai, Chinese, Western, Middle Eastern. So many choices. And good ones.
Definitely a must visit while visiting Zurich specially if you are vegan

The buffet at Hiltl was mindblowing. Ot was huge and full of so many options, either the vast majority being vegan (and clearly marked as such). The food was delicious and tasty but also felt quite healthy and homecooked (in a fancy way). The staff were very helpful. The sole downside is it was very expensive, they charge by kilo and for a well sized (but not even hugely portioned) main and a bowl of desserts it was £70 🥲 but then again Switzerland is famously expensive, and I wouldn’t say it was necessarily more expensive than most other good restaurants in Zurich.

Lots of space inside and plenty of choices from the buffet. Be prepared to spend more than you expected as the food looks so appealing. Not everything is vegan but everything veggie is clearly labelled. Lots of different style and options for different tastes.

The first door on the left takes you to the self service buffet and door on right is for seated service with a menu. Buffet had a lot of options, nice salad bits etc, I had a small plate which was 15 and my partner added a few more items than me and his was 25. Tap water available and you can pick 1 piece of bread free.

Mi sono innamorata di questi enormi buffet che si trovano in Svizzera! Si tratta di un locale vegetariano, ma le opzioni vegan sono tantissime ed è tutto molto gustoso! Si può scegliere tra la formula self service o con menu alla carta. Anche gli accompagnatori onnivori rimangono sempre piacevolmente sorpresi dalla qualità e dalla varietà del cibo. È un ristorante dove tornerei tutti i giorni!
Read moreI’ve fallen in love with these huge buffets you find in Switzerland! It’s a vegetarian place, but there are so many vegan options and everything is very tasty. You can choose between a self-service formula or an à la carte menu. Even non-vegetarian companions are always pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the food.
It’s a restaurant I would go back to every day!

Even my omni hubby was happy with the selection. There was so much choice for vegans, and that was even without me looking at the cold salad bar. So many delicious curries, I had 3 with some rosti, spelt potatoes, and broccoli. Loved every bite. Then vegan tiramisu, mango mousse and some mango pieces for dessert. Yum!

All vegetarian/vegan restaurant. Food was fantastic! I got the mushroom starter and the plant steak. It is the second best vegan steak that I ever had (first place=The Botanist in Zadar). Service and atmosphere were great. Seemed a little pricy, but we just flew in from a long trip in cheaper climate (Albania/Turkey), so I may just be over-sensitive. Truly an outstanding experience overall!

Huge variety of vegan food in a buffet style setting where you pay per 100gms. Decided to get a little bit of everything and was not disappointed with anything on the plate!

We really enjoyed our visit to Haus Hill. We had been looking forward to it for months and it was worth the wait. We started with the yummy pumpkin coconut soup and the delicious Korean BBQ cauliflower. My husband had the Madras Banana and absolutely loved it and I loved the green Thai curry. The pumpkin cheesecake was also yummy

Everything on the menu is either vegetarian or vegan. If you want it vegan just ask and they’ll try to make it vegan. You can have food from their buffet or order a la carte. I ordered their vegan HIlTL Burger. It was wonderful!

Every dish selected (except the rösti oddly enough) was flavourful and yummy. The best dishes imo were the Asian ones. The cream in the vegan dessert lacked flavor too, but overall, the food was pretty high quality for a buffet.
Read moreI just wish they kept the vegan bread rolls separated from the vegetarian ones. Although there was a chart indicating which was which (as there are several types) some of the rolls looked quite similar making it a little tricky to distinguish.

It’s a good buffet, same as Tibits, with many vegan and delicious options. There are many vegetarian options with dairy and eggs, so be careful to watch and confirm the labels. I would give 5 if it was all vegan.
