Great baggel karaage burger - Edit
The place is around 20 walking from Shibuya Station. I tried this karaage burger. It was very delicious, nice flavor and texture. It’s a small café, perfect to a cozy experience.

DELICIOUS melon pan - Edit
I didn’t visit the restaurant but walked past their pop up store at Kichijoji today (24/07). The girl working there was so nice and happy another vegan walked by! I got a mini lemon donut and a plain melon pan. Both were so so delicious but I can’t stop thinking about that melon pan!! 😂 I don’t know how they made it so tasty and the bread was so soft. I would definitely buy it again!!

まあまあ - Edit
でかいって聞いてたけど個人的には思ったより小さかった(笑)ホイップクリーム2倍にしたけどそれでも少ないなと思った。スイーツ系のドーナツはそこまでボリュームないかな。

Good Food but no masks in the Kitchen? - Edit
The food is great, price is very decent, very lovely especially during summer time. However, no one from the staff was wearing a mask, either kitchen or waiter. Felt a tiny bit weird because of the current world situation (Feb2022). Found a hair in my burger which didn't help haha

Amazing food and super nice chef! - Edit
When I came here the young lady (server) who took my order seemed so shy and nervous, they must not get a lot of foreigners, but was happy when she relaxed a bit and she finally gave me a big smile :-D. Her being nervous kinda made me nervous, so I was happy when the chef came out to say hi.
Read moreChef is super kind, and I loved seeing his lovely smile too and was very welcoming! You can sense that the food is made with love and passion and by someone who cares about his guests. He was pretty funny too.
Menu is extensive and in Japanese only, but some of the food has pictures so it makes it easier to order. I had a soy meat bagel and home made lemon tea. Although it is a bagel, it does fill up like a hamburger. They seem to have sweet bagels too, so I imagine those will be a bit lighter, but I am not sure. I need to come back and check out their other menu items another time.
Very cozy and unique location, I loved the details of the interior.
Pros: Interesting menu, Nice, smiling chef, Cool/cozy interior

Amazing vegan bagel shop but clear anti-mask (Edited) - Edit
Update- don’t feel comfortable going here, as they are very clearly opposed to masks and refuse to wear one for the safety of their patrons.
Read moreI have been following them on Instagram for awhile and so happy I finally got to try it out!! Absolutely wonderful little shop with tasty bagel sandwiches. I’m not sure of the opening hours because they are not posted anywhere, so please call ahead before going!

They don’t care about their customers’ health - Edit
When we arrived the manager/ cook wasn’t wearing a mask. I asked him if he would put one on, he said no. Walked right out. I’m only giving two stars instead of one because the app forces me to. Traveled a long way for nothing.
Read moreLater, we checked the Google reviews, and it seems the staff haven’t been wearing masks for months now. Super disappointing as we had been looking forward to eating there for a long time. There are so many phenomenal vegan options in Shibuya, and we’d rather support the many businesses who are serving food responsibly.

Fluffy and Greasy but TASTY! - Edit
I tried a vegan teriyaki chicken burger. Donuts buns are so fluffy, the teriyaki source has a thick flavor, and you can't even tell it's all vegan. The chicken is not dried at all and you can enjoy real vegan junk food here. They also serve sweet donuts.

...and the place was already closing down but the staff offered me one of the best vegan doughnuts I've ever had, hence it's all good. I shall return!

Fuel the Soul - Edit
The burgers at Hatena might not be healthy for the cells, but damn are they good for the soul. I couldn’t tell you the last time I had truly “guilty pleasure” vegan food in Japan but it felt so bad (in the best way) to have some again. We tried the teriyaki chicken burger and the sweet chili mayo chicken burger, both served with unglazed donuts for buns. Then we additionally had a stuffed matcha donut for dessert. My arteries haven’t felt this clogged since before I gave up animal products and I’m not unhappy about it.

Cons: My arteries aren’t too pleased with me...

Tasty all-vegan donut burgers - Edit
Just off a road, this place is quiet and we enjoyed just chilling on the veranda on a sunny day. Service was slow to reflect the vibe, and food was tasty if a little oily. Banana milkshake and iced cafe mocha were divine. Unglazed donuts were great burger buns!

A nice hideaway restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating! - Edit
I have actually been to this shop a few times. I love their doughnuts and other sweets!
Read moreBut this time, I decided to get lunch. I had the French Sourdough (Campagne) Sandwich that had roasted veggies and mushrooms in it. The bread itself had cacao in it which gave it a really interesting, complex flavor and the texture was crunchy and satisfying. A very nice sandwich!
My husband got the Teriyaki "chicken" Doughnut Burger (which of course I also got a bite of!) and it was really delicious too! The "chicken" was very convincing (texture wasn't dry at all) and the teriyaki sauce was so good.
We got an iced rose hip tea which came with a side of rose hips (like a paste) and syrup (I believe it was agave) which were good just as a side or mixed into the drink (we tried it both ways).
I can recall having a hard time finding this place the first time I went, as it's rather tucked away up a flight of stairs on a small road in Daikanyama. But the location is really nice because it's so quiet and kind of hidden! They have several outdoor tables and their doors were wide open so it's well ventilated.
The staff are really nice, too! You can also take out bread or other food to go if you want. I brought back some sweets for later! :)
Pros: Good food, Nice location (away from crowds, nice and quiet)

Vegan Junk Food! - Edit
An amazing place with a great vibe in a quiet street in Daikanyama! They serve incredible donut burgers and other vegan junk food. We had fries with ketchup, the savory teriyaki donut burger, and the sweet donut burger with black cherry jelly and cream. For me personally, the fries lacked flavor, but both the savory and the sweet donut burgers were incredible! This is no health food by any means, so prepare for greasy fried donut buns! So glad to see something like this in Japan, as vegan food here often tends to be marketed towards women or the beauty/health-conscious, and we need all kinds of vegan options!

Fusion of savoury and sweet - Edit
I am happy that this place is my very first vegan restaurant to eat!
Read moreThey have donut burger with both sweet and savoury options and I have only had savoury ones. My favourite one is Tatsuta, the crispiness and savouriness of the Tatsuta and fluffiness and sweetness of donuts have a perfect chemistry.

Pros: Nice Staffs , Great food
Cons: Slow service, A bit pricy , Can be hard to find the place

Amazing savory donut burgers! - Edit
Amazing!! Their signs say organic junk food and they live up to that spectacularly! The donut buns are fluffy but not too sweet, and the burgers are sooo delicious. Can’t wait to come back! If you get their late, they don’t have fresh buns, but they give a discount so win win either way!
Read moreAlso has a great vegan drinks selection. Looking forward to trying their changing cocktails of the day.
I sent in an update for this listing, but until that goes through, here are some corrections: Monday it is closed, they open at noon and close at 9pm weekdays, 11 on weekends (including Sunday). Last order an hour earlier. It is near daikanyama station (google maps has the correct location).
Pros: Perfect late night snack!, Awesome vibe; quiet place to spend an afternoon
