Love it (but!)

Small, downtown, 24/7, attentive staff, quick service, so much vegan deliciousness - can't go wrong night or day! PS Had to bump the rating down to a 4 - they definitely serve animal FLESH!

Pros: So much vegan, Inexpensive, Centrally located downtown

Cons: Serves animal flesh

Cheap and easy

Address listed won’t get you anywhere, but we’ve been told by locals who showed us how to get there ‘it’s very famous, you can ask anyone’. Service was a bit confusing but you get a serving including foul, babaganoush, hummus, falafel, 3 pieces of flatbread, a side salad (raw onion, mint, tomato) and a beverage for 5JOD. Was enough to feed to, so you only have to get another drink and 2 can eat for 6JOD. Form what I’ve seen they also serve fries.
To pay you just have to go to the counter.
Just don’t expect the same level of ‘customer service’ you’re maybe used to from ‘the west’. It’s busy and popular with tourists and locals alike.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Busy

A must try in Jordan

Service was quick and food was excellent. A nice sample of veggie middle eastern mezze for a great price (we were 9, ate our fill, had soft drinks and tea all of it for 26JOD)
Just don't expect a calm and relaxing atmosphere:)

Pros: Lots of vegan food, Great falafel

Delicious chaos

The entire vibe of this place is a bit chaotic--just like Amman! We sat down and were asked what we wanted--a bit difficult when you've just arrived in Jordan and they have no menus. We just said mezze and received a number of dishes which included french fries, hummus, a bean dish (Foul?) and baba ghanoush along with four giant, soft pitas and some tomatoes, onion and mint.

The hummus and baba ghanoush were delicious. The bean dish was quite bland--we added lots of chili paste to it to liven it up. The fries weren't worth the calories.

We saw some people eating out of a big metal bowl, but wasn't sure what that was. Another server came around with chia tea, so we had several glasses.

Logistics: napkins aren't provided. There was one box of tissues which a man at another table took from the servers stand. Servers and customers from other tables kept walking over to take them. There is a bathroom which was a bit away from the restaurant, but it wasn't clear if it was a public bathroom or associated with Hasheem. Anyway, it was quite nasty with no toilet paper (bring your own!), but at least it did have soap.

Total cost of our meal (for 2): 9 JOD

Pros: Inexpensive, Eat with locals, Delicious hummus and baba ghanoush

Cons: No menu, Gross bathroom, No napkins

Best place for Hummus in Amman

I loved Hashem. Me and my partner went in for some hummus and ended up getting our bellies filled with hummus, baba ghanoush and some beans dip. We also got flat bread, chips, falafels, salad, two teas and a coke. All this for 7 JOD! Crazy!

Pros: Everything is vegan , English speaking staff, Everything is gluten free apart from flatbread

Cheap and tasty

Wonderful restaurant, easy to find as it is always busy.

Ate there several times, eating in and getting big platew of falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, pita bread, vegetables, fries and tea for two people costed us 7,- JD. All of this as a take-away middle sized meal for one person costed me 3,- JD (still more than enough for two people).

Afterwards, since the servings are so filling we just ordered 'falafel sandwiches', a small falafel sandwich costed 0.50,- JD and a big one 0.75,- JD.

Really delicious and really recommend all of it! Eating in as well as take away!

Pros: Large servings, Great taste, Cheap

Cons: Always busy

Delicious, fresh and affordable. Friendly staff. It was the best hummus ever! We sat in an open air area. We had ful, hummus, pita, falafel, with tomatoes, mint and onion on the side. Plus 2 cokes and a bottle of water for $4.50 dinar.

INCREDIBLE!

There is no menu at Hashem. You just sit down at a table, and servers walk around with different trays full of items. Flag down the server who has something you want.

They serve falafel, hummus, pickled vegetables, and beans. You also get pita bread. Sweetened tea is available.

Falafel, hummus and tea will cost you about $3 US, and it's a LOT of food for this small price.

If you are in Amman, you HAVE TO GO HERE.

Pros: All-veg, Tons of food for cheap

Bustling, delicious, typically Jordanian

Love this place! Hashem is a bit of an institution and everyone in Amman seems to know it.

Hashem occupies an alleyway in downtown Amman, which at first is slightly confusing, until you realise that all the places in the alleyway are part of the restaurant.

It is an informal place, with mostly outdoor seating and some indoor seating on plastic tables and chairs. At mealtimes, it is bustling with Jordanian families, couples and groups of friends, and waiters whizzing around to serve as quickly as possible.

There is no written menu. The food is:
- Falafel: The small ones are bitesize, we got served a few larger ones with onions inside which were delicious
- Hummous: So smooth, so tasty!
- Foul: Beans ground into a lovely paste, drizzled with olive oil and mild peppers
- Bread
- Salad plate
- Mint tea: Best mint tea around. If you're not fond of sugar ask for no sugar as it is very sweet!
==> All for 5 JOD.

Pros: Tasty, Bustling atmosphere, Cheap

One of my best meals in Jordan

Everything I had here was perfect! The fuul and regular falafels were great, but my favorites were definitely the silky smooth humus and the bigger falafels which were stuffed with grilled onions. Fantastic!

Price is excellent at about 1 JD per bowl of fuul/hummus. Two of us stuffed ourselves for 3 JD total.

Pros: Fresh, Fast, Perfectly Delicious
