Amazing spot with a wide range of options - Edit
Great food at a low price point as well as a wide selection of baked goods which can be taken home. There is a small range of books and cds in the shop. Workers are very friendly

Still the best - Edit
This has moved across from its old location, to the old market house in the square at Ballynahinch.
Read moreIt offers a different menu, with a few things taken off (no chips, oddly) and some things added, like the stew, which I strongly recommend.
It seems there’s a bit less floor space in the caff now, but it has never been packed when I have visited.
Pros: Totally vegan, Community Interest company, Dogs welcome!
Cons: Reduced range, Fewer tables, it seems, Dogs are welcome…

Lovely welcoming cafe - Edit
We had a lovely lunch at Harry’s served by Ruiari. We had a ciabatta, club sandwich and a burger. The portions were generous so come hungry! We couldn’t resist taking home some yummy looking traybakes. The cafe has a welcoming feel with a Children’s toy corner, book swap and local crafts on sale.

The dirtiest dirty fries ever! - Edit
Came here on a recommendation from a local friend. He wasn’t wrong - this place was great. Chilled but charming and attentive service and a really broad menu. I loved my Big Momma burger and Seitan dirty fries. Big portions and loads of flavour. Would definitely return and try something healthier but this is what I wanted on the day and it was great.

Vegan heaven - Edit
Had the chance to try Harry's place recently and honestly I'm blown away by how good everything was. Their menu is fully vegan, the portions are incredibly generous and all dishes were delicious. The place is such a great community space and also has a small shop section of arts and crafts from local artists which was excellent too. We had some of their burgers, loaded fries and some sweet treats, as well as some sausage rolls and pies to take home and everybody was very pleased with their food.

An Absolute Must! - Edit
The most extensive, delicious, entirely vegan menu with really generous portions at really great prices. I've not had a less than wonderful experience at Harry's and always come away with a bag full of goodies to have at home. Their dine in menu and take away counter, sweet and savoury offerings are all incredible and the staff are absolutely brilliant. And it's a social enterprise supporting a really great cause so it's doubly extra fantastic!!

The best - Edit
Amazing Vegan café run by the most wonderful people. Gareth and David are tireless in their efforts to create an inclusive and fun community.
Read moreThe café has so much choice and not having to play a game of chance with the menu is great. Also bonus points for not having to sit amongst people with animal parts on their plates. The portions are generous and so reasonably priced.
The café is a charity that employs people with learning difficulties and enables them to be independent and confident. They are a delightful bunch of staff.
Living as Vegans in the middle of the countryside is made so much easier by Harry's Place. They also allow dogs which just makes it even more homely and welcoming.
I can't state enough how much I love this place.

Absolutely amazing food, a real heart led business! - Edit
What a wonderful place, my husband and I both had the pancakes and they were so yummy and some sweet treats after. Came here while staying at Newcastle, but will definitely make the drive down from Belfast, especially as it’s dog friendly. Truly unique place, the people were wonderful. Really beautiful community, cannot recommend enough

Clean, friendly and so many delicious options! - Edit
We had heard about here a while ago and couldn't wait to check out a fully vegan place. We were up the Mournes earlier in the day and were absolutely famished and since we were in the area, we stopped for a late lunch. It was so lovely to not have to scrutinise the menu for what we could or couldn't eat because by that time of day we were tired and very hungry! Having everything vegan just made it so much more straightforward. We were so pleased with the food, the friendly service and the lovely clean and spacious interior. Sometimes vegan places can be a bit grungy but Harry's place is anything but. We will definitely be back, my husband has gone from reluctant hiker to can't wait for the next trip!

'A pie couldn't be any better' - Edit
Went here during lockdown when only takeaway was permitted by law. I had a lemon meringue in the square outside with a decaf americano. It was aaaaaamazing! Hubby enjoyed his peanut butter and chocolate cookie sandwich and green tea. I took similar offering along with a couple of mince and onion pies to my parents who demolished them apparently 👍. I got a couple of takeaway pies for ourselves. My mince and onion pie put me into pie heaven. My husband's curry pie was good too. I'm so pleased this whole place is 100% plant based. So none of those awkward discussions about what is vegan. So lovely that it supports people with learning challenges. Will definitely return. Dog friendly too. A lovely square just outside with benches to eat takeaway fare in. There will be seating indoors when permitted. Great place incorporating the little bearded baker. They are hoping to expand their opening hours in due course and also seem to have a menu for hot food.
Read moreUpdate: Visited again. Indoor dining open. Plenty of space. Clean. Good loos. Friendly capable staff with excellent supervision to ensure everything is perfect. Huge menu. I had a Christmas type sandwich - sourdough, stuffing, cranberry sauce etc, delish. Husband had a beyond burger. We shared a lotus swirl which was very sweet and fudgy and a salted caramel brownie heated with 'cream'. Everything was very filling and tasty. Quite a popular spot. Hopefully introducing plant based eating to people who might not otherwise wander into a vegan cafe. Very positive vibe from customers and staff alike. Wonderful spot. Can't wait to visit again.

We have made a journey now twice to get lunch and stock up on sweet and savoury treats. Well worth the journey we made. My wife absolutely loves it too and she is not even vegan. All the staff are super friendly as well, it has the feel of a family business. Big thumbs up from us. 👍

Literally blown away - Edit
Was poking idly through HappyCow and came across this place totally by chance. I was initially intrigued by what could be of interest to veggies in a town like Ballynahinch? I associate it more with being part of the route to Newcastle and generally having to move through it slowly.
Read moreAs I'm a history buff and currently obsessed with 1798 (why the heck aren't NITB or our museums for that matter???) I also think of that, and Genesis as a heritage chip shop that's now closed. Anyhow all that aside I was intrigued and decided to make a special journey to seek this place out.
I've said this before in other contexts, but if you'd told me when I started going veggie 17 years ago that Ballynahinch would have a fully vegan place I'd have laughed at you. There was no way, when I had times in Belfast where Id had to make do with a packet of salt and vinegar peanuts for lunch, or been told the veggie option was fish (the noted aquatic vegetable!) or worse, that I was some sort of weirdo or copying some 'sleb (Morrissey) and the risible fad would pass.
Well not only has a rural town a fully vegan place but it's got a heck of a one. Tried the "not today seitan" gravy chip which is honestly the most delicious and well made chip I have ever eaten. I'm being serious. And I have eaten many's a gravy chip. Got some sausage rolls, coffee and a curry version of the seitan offering. All delicious, all vegan, all cheap for the quality and amount of food you get. Couple this with a social enterprise and inclusion element and you have an almost perfect place to get some food. Not to mention the array of delicious looking baked treats that I'm totally trying next time.
I was worried that an all vegan place with LGBT associations would be a tough sell in a rural area well outside the capital but it was pretty constant in terms of customers whilst I waited for my food. I absolutely wish they get the success they deserve and am still in awe this is an actual thing. They also have for sale some craft items, plants and the like.
Possibly pound for pound NIs best veggie eatery.
In the words of Arnie, I'll be back 👍
UPDATE: tried the baked stuff: lotus roll and bunny German biscuit. I advise you don't as the chances of you becoming addicted are too high, was divine and cannot believe dairy free. Absolutely great.
