My wife and I visited at 11.35am, soon after it opened. Already a couple of customers, and several more arrived during our visit.

Very friendly welcome. Menu clearly shows vegan options. Chose the vegan bean curry dish with brown rice. Extremely flavoursome, good portion size and with several other colourful and fresh sides. Very reasonably priced considering the obvious quality of the ingredients.

In my opinion, we’ll worth a visit and will try to get back to sample other dishes at the end of my stay in Japan.

The food was delicious, the staff very friendly and the atmosphere was great. Their shop on the same floor has a good variety of natural products. There’s also a second hand clothing area! 😉

The chocolate tofu cake was good!

The food was non-seasoned but a very typical Japanese style, and the “burger” was like a smashed sticky potato just with the shape of a burger, didn’t enjoy much.
But the chocolate tofu cake, was yummy.

Wholesome meal

Had a tofu hamburger steak meal for dinner. Came with several side dishes and a soup. They also had two choices of vegan pound cake. I got the amazake and dates cake. Moist and moderately sweet. It was amazing. They also have a store that also has a lot of vegan selections. I got a bag of two anpan's. Can't wait to try them!

Visited for the second time just after a couple days. This time had the sweet and sour 'pork' meal, and it was delicious again. Also got the same pound cake to go again.

Great food and chill atmosphere

This cafe has amazing food and a beautiful rustic interior, with natural timber and chill music. The curry lunch set came with a large portion of delicious curry, choice of brown, white or both rices, a salad and some pickled vegetables. It was very reasonable for the price. Even though the menu is in Japanese, and the staff speak minimal English, I was still able to clearly identify the labeled “vegan” options in the printed menu and on the specials boards. In the shop there were also items clearly labeled as vegan including creamy pasta sauce, soy meats and daily muffins.

Pros: Delicious!, Clearly labelled “vegan”, Shop has many great items

Cons: Menu not available in English

We LOVE this place!

You ever walk into a restaurant and immediately feel like you’ve stumbled upon something special? That’s how we felt upon entering Hareya (closest station: Hon-Atsugi) for the first time.

The restaurant sells fish and chicken dishes, but they also have a substantial number of vegan dishes, clearly marked as such. I tried the burger and soup set. The soup was chock FULL of veggies and quinoa. The burger was on fluffy white bread with a warm and tasty veggie meat filling of some kind. The meal was filling and so delicious.

But save room for dessert! We tried the gateau chocolat, which was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal.

Hareya isn’t just a cafe, it also has a shop inside that sells vegan/ organic products, second-hand clothes, and all sorts of things. We highly, highly recommend paying this place a visit!

Pros: Filling, healthy, delicious food, The store always has lots of neat things, Kind service

Cons: Not many seats-- try to avoid peak hours

Vegan Food in Atsugi!!!

Going out to eat in Japan, without worrying about which foods have fish sauce or meat broth, is extremely difficult, especially outside of Tokyo. Hareya is half organic foods shop and half organic cafe - with a nice selection of vegan/vegetarian foods on the menu. The burger and the curry were great, as were the cakes made with tofu and without sugar or eggs. They have various coffee's and tea's to enjoy too (and it was a pot of tea, not a cup). It's close to Hon-Atsugi Station, and a delicious island of healthy food in an ocean of fish-foods...

Pros: Outstanding food, Friendly staff, Nice music

Cons: Organic shop pricey, but that's normal in Japan
