We went there based on the reviews. The food was delicious, we had samosa, spring rolls and fried tofu as appetizer and yellow and massam curry and a sandwich as main meal. The food was delicious and the staff were really helpful and nice! Really recommend this place! You should definitely try the iced lemon tea!!

Good veggie grub! - Edit

Good solid veggie and vegan options. We had a delicious tom kha soup and a fancy looking, tasty, charcoal bun burger! The menu was a little confusing with little lots of things crossed out but definitely worth visiting!

Pros: Fresh and tasty

Mixed feelings - Edit

We went to Happy veggie for dinner twice this weekend. The place is quite nice, staff is friendly and everything on menu sounds delicious. First night we ordered Tom yum soup, some stir-fry and vegetable tempura. Everything was just excellent, very tasty and good portions. Only one problem was a veeeeery long waiting time (over an hour).
Next day we came back with expectations - we had a tofu burger (it looked amazing on neighbour´s table :) ) and marinated tofu and mushrooms with some sauce and black rice. The burger came entirely cold and bun was soaked with the sauce. I think they just forgot it somewhere for 20 minutes and then brought it to us. So my partner returned it to kitchen and ordered a green curry to make it simple and faster. The curry was just ok, but no spicy at all (we asked for spicy). My meal of tofu and mushrooms was an expensive joke. I´m almost sure that the marinated tofu was a patty from a burger. Then four small mushrooms and some selection of boiled veggies and black rice . Saver of the whole meal was a sauce, which was delicious.
Maybe we should come third time to find out, how is the restaurant :-) .

Pros: Tom yum, curries, pure veg place, nice staff

Cons: Cold burger, Long waiting time

Just okay - Edit

We went here based on all the rave reviews it recieved, and were a bit disappointed. When we showed up, we came and sat down, assuming someone would bring us a menu, but that didn’t happen so we went and found one inside around the corner of the door, most of the items are crossed off, but they are crossed off with a blue marker so you can still read them, which was confusing, maybe that is just the blonde in me though. We decided what we wanted and waited for someone to come take our order, which we had seen them do for the 3 other tables. We had been there for probably 20 minutes with no one coming to check on us or take our order. I eventually just did what I did with the menu and went inside to order. We got the mushroom and tofu scramble sandwich. It was okay but nothing out of the water amazing. The sandwich was 160 THB which seemed a bit high for what we got, but that seems to be normal for all vegetarian restaurants around here. When I went to pay, I gave the woman at the counter 200 bhat and she looked uoset and asked why I didn’t have exact change. I would understand if I was giving her a larger bill saying something to that regard, but it felt a bit unwarranted when I only needed 40 in change.

Cons: Lots of items on the large menu crossed out, Long wait time, High price for portion size

Could be a nice try - Edit

Actually, I really was looking forward to eat there. But when I got there, I definitely was a bit disappointed. The have a huge menu, but most of the dishes are crossed out and therefore not available. And so it is, that you only can choose between two different smoothies for example. Unfortunately the waitress speaks barely any English and so you can't find out what's gluten-free and what's not. But the taste of the dishes you get is good.

Excellent food - Edit

We had the pad thai and the duo d-light.
Really, really good.
I think the only non vegan food is the egg you can have for breakfast. But even that you can replace by a vegan option.

Pros: lots of vegan choices

Best food I had in Thailand - Edit

Everything I tried on their menu was simply incredible. My boyfriend had papaya salads in about 10 different restaurants all over thailand (mostly omni) and he stated Happy Veggie's papaya salad was the best by far. It is quite pricey though, but worth your money.

Pros: Gorgeous food, Nice atmosphere, Friendly owner

Cons: Expensive for Thai standards, Just beneath the street (loud)

could be better - Edit

I ate tofu sandwich and it was incredible, but my boyfriend ordered papaya salad which was so sour that he couldn't eat it. Also there are not so many dishes to choose from. But they have 100% fresh made juice (which is rare in Thailand).

Pros: Friendly staff , Cozy atmosphere , Fresh made juice

Cons: Poor variety of food

delicious and nutritious! - Edit

Servers are extremely polite and friendly! Had the tofu burger and it was incredible, was slightly more expensive than other places we had eaten but after eating it was worth it. Tasted so healthy and full of veggies! My boyfriend had the pumpkin and hummus sandwich which he also enjoyed and was happy to have a veggie sandwich that wasn’t egg.

Pros: loads of variety, large portions

Samosa and spring rolls-must try! - Edit

During our stay at Ko Lanta, we were mainly eating here, we had pad thai ( ate a lot if them in Thailand, this is one of the bests), rice with fried vegetables, curry with sweet patato ( good but a bit too sweet for me) and something with brown rice, eggplant and pesto- everything very good! Quite some costumers, so take some time for eating here!

Don’t expect too much.. - Edit

I ate here twice and though the food is good, there’s a serious problem with the staff. They’re kind and friendly but don’t understand English. I ordered a drink first, then an appetizer and then my main course. I got my drink, then my main accompagnied by a dish I didn’t order and when I was finishing my main they brought my appetizer. The menu is halfly crossed out and make sure you ask if everything is included (no tartar sauce with French fries). I use this app regurarly and it’s with deep regret that I write this because I really think this resto has very more to offer if managed by good English speaking staff (which they are looking for).
It’s because in our view this is all cheap but it doesn’t mean that we have to put up with the lack of service they are offering. I really hope this resto keeps its heart in serving good food.

Pros: Good food/good price

Cons: there’s no way you can explain anything if no-one

Delightful & delicious! - Edit

Happy Veggie is absolutely delicious, affordable and beautiful. The owner is so nice, and everything we ate was so delicious, and made by the owner to order. Beautifully plated & large portions for good prices (especially on Koh Lanta, where things are a bit pricier). The raw food was shockingly good, too. I really recommend coming here!

Pros: Delicious , Fresh, Affordable

I love Happy Veggie Restaurant!! - Edit

I love Happy Veggie Restaurant!! Penang Curry had sweet potatoes, taro, tofu and Veggies. Really good!! The owner is the sweetest women. Hard to believe she has only been open for four months.

As a friend dining with the reviewer, I enjoyed the Pumpkin Hummus sandwich on whole wheat. Crunchy, fresh, tangy - with a zip from the Curry to complement it all. I would absolutely order this again!

Pros: Amazing Penang Curry , veggies are super fresh, wonderful relaxing place

Best Vegan Food on Koh Lanta. - Edit

I've visited 3 times now. Each time the food is delicious! Also fresh, and not oily.
The lady is so nice and friendly. It's a one woman show as far as I'm aware so if it's busy you'll wait a while.

Pros: Amazing food, Clean, not oily, fresh , Reasonably priced

Cons: May be slow if busy
