the place to eat Veg in Escondido - Edit

I had read about this place on happycow and ate here in June 2012. Here's my Happy Vegan review.

My family had traveled to Escondido to visit the Wild Animal Safari Park, and this is the only pure veg place at this time in this town. Thank goodness. The food was tasty. I especially like the Vietnamese pho noodle soup, the crunchy spring rolls appetizer, and the cake was delicious. The dumplings we had was so-so, the skin was a bit tough and the sauce was a bit strange.

This restaurant is located in shopping center and is quite spacious inside. Not fancy but all right. The owners and staff are very attentive and friendly.

Pros: yummy pho, cake, vegan menu

CAKE A MUST - Edit

We tried the veggie dumplings-yummy-small portions, sweet potato fries-delicious, vegan cheese bread-tasty. We ordered about four dishes. Very healthy and full of veggies. My favorite part was the chocolate and coconut pan dan cake with whipped cream frosting, a must. At first I was bummed they didn't have the cheesecake but I quickly got over it when I saw that cake. Great service.

Pros: friendly staff, clean, desserts

Great Vegan food in Escondido - Edit

We were so surprised to find a great Vegan restaurant in Escondido. Many Vegan/Vegetarian restaurants sacrifice flavor, but the Happy Vegan actually has better food than any other restaurant we have tried. Their recipes have excellent flavor and texture, and they use some very tasty soy products we have never tasted before -- YUM!!

It doesn't hurt that they have the BEST vegan chocolate cake we've EVER tasted!

All Vegan/Veg lovers unite, TELL YOUR FRIENDS and let's make sure this great restaurant stays busy!!

Pros: Great food, No Meat on menu!, Very friendly staff

Cons: NOTHING

This place is charming, friendly, and yummy. It's reminiscent of Loving Hut, and its prices are very fair. Same great Pan Dan cake, same great feel of Loving Hut, and just as delicious. So great, and unexpected, to have vegan food in Escondido!!!!! The won ton soup is fantastic!

Pros: North County, Fair prices, Great menu

Cons: Escondido , Escondido, Did I mention it's in Escondido?

Happy Veggie is now Happy Vegan - Edit

Great place to get a healthy, delicious vegan meal! I have visited Happy Vegan many times now and enjoyed everything I have tried. The Pho is one of my favorites and my daughter is in love with the Cheeseburger and Fries! We had a large group and tried different desserts, all were good! They have also updated the menu with more choices than ever. I live in Inland North County and am so happy to have a vegan restaurant nearby! This is my favorite place to eat out.

Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Food, Good Value

Happy Veggie, Escondido - Edit

Great Food, great service, great location, great rooms and comfy too. I travel a lot all over the world and this is a very decent place! Great selection of dishes as well....something for everyone. For the kids you can get Veggie Burgers and French Fries...if they happen to be picky eaters... and you can enjoy all the Veggie stuff. If you love desserts they have a fantastic Cheese Cake ( all vegan and agave nectar....I could not believe it)
I would recommend the traditional Teapot to share as drink.

Pros: excellent food, healthy cuisine, good value

Happy Veggie - Edit

I was so excited when I found out this would be opening. I love almost everything I have had. The Mongolian stir-fry is wonderful. The wonton soup and bbq tofu noodle soup are great when I'm feeling under the weather. The house special soy protein is one of my favorite vegan dishes ever! My brother loved his pho soup and has got it every time. The pan fried noodles are unique and absolutely delicious, as is the tofu crepe. Also for an appetizer the "chicken" drumsticks are to die for. :) love this place!

Pros: Friendly staff, decent price, authentic asian

Cons: Not very good american food

Wonderful Pan-Asian Fusion in Escondido!! - Edit

Escondido FINALLY has a veggie restaurant all its own! Super friendly, courteous staff and a nicely decorated environment. Delicious food that is tastefully presented and delivered in a timely manner. We sampled more than half of the appetizers, and all were wonderful. Kung Pao was fabulous, though the Veggie Wrap wasn't quite what we expected (think more of a quiche/crepe/omlete than a wrap, especially since there was no "wrap" to speak of.). All in all, I really like this place and would love to see it flourish, especially in veggie-starved North County. It's not exactly a mirror image of Sipz, but is its own thing with its own food and style. Definitely worth a try!

Pros: Good Food, Friendly Staff, Reasonable Prices

Great all vegan restaurant with very good service. I had the Kung Pao, and it was fresh and delicious. They will give you white rice, or an excellent brown rice.
There's a lot of diversity on the menu including Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Mongolian and American dishes to name a few.

Pros: Fresh food, Good service, Diverse menu
