good chinese food - Edit

A nice veggie restaurant with tasty food. We had great tofu dishes and rice. The staff are friendly and it was nice to be in a restaurant with Buddhist nuns eating: it felt less touristy than other places.

The atmosphere could be a bit better: people were sitting around on their mobile phones. Maybe some music would make a better atmosphere.

overall, a nice place to eat, especially if you want to get away from dal baat!

Pros: good location next to the stupa, tasty food, friendly staff who give free meals to monks and nu

Cons: could have a better atmosphere/ambience

Great noodles - Edit

I came here with my cousin while visiting the Bouda and had a simple but very tasty and filling bowl of veg noodles. The broth was really tasty.
I also had a pancake with red beans inside from the specials board.
I was assured that the pancake was vegan. It did taste like it was just a simple pancake made with flour and water and the beans.

Pros: cheap and healthy veg noodles, sat with a view of the Bouda

Cons: none

Delicious authentic Chinese food - Edit

I love this place and come here often. Whatever I order it's always reliably tasty - if you like authentic Chinese food this is your place. (And they also offer Nepali Dal Bhat.) There's a wide range of dishes - hard to choose, great place to come with friends and share, makes it easier to decide. I cannot recommend certain dishes as it's always been just great - and taste differs anyway. This is not one of the typical Bouddha tourist restaurants, there are always many monks and nuns from the surrounding monasteries (the restaurant offers free meals for them).
And not to forget: great view.
And friendly staff.

Extensive menu, hit and miss - Edit

The menu here has plenty of options (mostly Chinese dishes), and I'd recommend that uninitiated diners take their time to study it carefully, and ask questions if needed, before ordering, as the flavor and quality varies.

Of the three items I ordered, one ("roasted tofu skin with fungus") was very tasty but also excessively oily; another (fried mushrooms) was also a little too oily (which made it feel heavy) and only mildly flavorful (they should serve a dipping sauce with it, but they didn't); and the third (veg momo) was OK but too bready for my taste.

Perhaps if other HappyCow users post their reviews of specific dishes here then future visitors will have more to work with as they decide what to order.

Service is very casual, but all were kind and helpful when asked.

Nepalese Vegetarian - Edit

I went to visit the Boudhanath Stupa at the Boudha Road and find the only vegetarian restaurant there. The food is very nice, atmosphere is good & clean. The price is cheap and the view is excellent that facing the Boudhanath Stupa. I try the Nepalese Thali and Masala tea, it's was very great. I would highly recommend here.
