Small vegetarian cafe. Cigkofte is the base of all the dishes. Interior has comfortable tables and benches for sitting with friends. The food is made for sharing. Delighted to find veg Cigkofte in Schiedam

My partner and I were very curious about newly opened Hanzade Cigkofte when we walked past it. We are always on the lookout for tasty vegetarian food and when something opens in our town, we want to support it.
It was unclear to us if it was veg cigikofte so we decided to walk in and ask. I did that today and met the owner, Lea. She was more than happy to tell me about their handmade cigkofte and that everything in they serve is vegetarian. Most people are used to meat as cigikofte is Turkish for meatball.
Upon her recommendation, I ordered the Crispy Cigikofte Sushi and the regular version to go as we were in the middle of a dog walk. It was delicious, with a little bit of spice. The cigikofte was wrapped around bits of cabbage and pickled vegetables, inside a durum layer. On the side a sweet pomengranate sauce is served for dipping. The portions were very generous and we had enough for two people for lunch and still another portion for tomorrow as it is very filling.
Next time we'll stay to eat there as the tables look as if they are meant for groups of friends to join together to eat, talk and connect.

Pros: Very friendly and eager to answer questions., The variety of options on the menu. , The interior is welcoming and cosy.
