Read moreI had the salt beef wrap which was lovely and moist. My companion had the tofu Buddha bowl which was huge and good value for money. Friendly service topped off our visit to Hank’s.

Hanks was great, I went 2 days in a row because I wanted to try more things on the menu. The staff were so lovely and the menu was massive, all the food we got was great. The portions are huge too!

Popped into Hank’s for a late lunch. The amount of choice was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was superb and we will definitely be back. My only regret is that they are 200 miles from where I live.

A really extensive menu which I have yet to work my way through. I have though had two burgers (Big Hank and Chick’n Legend), dirty fries, and on another the Malabar Curry. All of the dishes I’ve had have been very good. It’s certainly my go-to vegan fast-food takeaway when visiting or passing through Colchester. I would be so happy if a Chelmsford branch opened!
Read moreThe only reason I have not personally given the restaurant 5 stars is that the dining area inside the restaurant was not quite to my taste or comfort, but that may just be personal preference, and I certainly wouldn’t want it to put anyone off of visiting Hank’s!

The staff at Hank's have the patience of saints. We were so overwhelmed by the options available we stood there for longer than is polite. Fortunately, there was no queue!

I had a shawarma kebab, my partner had the mixed (not)meat kebab both of which hit the spot exactly. Our friends had a double bacon cheese burger and a fish burger with fries which they enjoyed. My partner said he would choose the donner kebab next time as that meat alternative was particularly excellent. The meals were served in disposable and recyclable packaging which is ok but I do wish fewer places opted for this option over reusables. The desserts looked lonely, sad and not particularly appealing but I say this having not tried one so perhaps looks are deceiving in this case.
The location of Hank's was a pleasant surprise as it was on a central street with lots of high street names. It was great to see a vegan place so visible.
Inside Hank's is ok. Very chilled vibes, in need of a refresh and a wee bit cold with the window draft but clean. Not somewhere I would go for a special occasion or bring my parents. It was perfect for a fill your face with mates sesh. And fill our faces we did.

Where do I even begin? Words cannot describe how amazing the menu is here... I'd heard about Hank's in Ipswich but just so happened to pass through colchester and see them there too. I don't think i've ever seen such a vast menu which is purely vegan - it's probably more than all the other restaurants vegan options in colchester combined... and then quadrupled. There's everything from fake burgers, chicken, chicken burgers, fish, kebeabs, hot dogs, wraps, loaded fries, sandwhiches, salads, katsu curry, sweet treats, cornish pasties, sausage rolls... i mean the list goes on and on.

The food itself is relatively affordable, if not on the slightly expensive side, I paid £9 for a jumbo american hotdog for example. Considering the options available and how amazing the food tasted though I'm more than happy to pay that.
There's a few seats downstairs or outside to sit and have your food, or you can head upstairs to the table and seating area.
The staff were so lovely and had a great chat about the food and what they'd reccommend seeing as the menu can be very overwhelming (which is a good thing though).
Praise the lord for the huge amount of vegan food being offered here. I'll definitely be going back and will be looking to try out the pub / restaurant in Ipswich ASAP!

Have been to Hanks a few times for takeaway. Often for Cakes and sometimes for lunch. EVERYTHING IS VEGAN! The choice is incredible and they also have a lot of Gluten Free options for my wife who is a Coeliac. I personally prefer the non sandwich options as the bread is not freshly baked but that is minor negative point amongst a never ending list of positives. A must visit!
