Perfect

Food was good reasonably priced. I went for burger and fries which also came with coleslaw. The quality was definitely there. Nothing to complain about. Service was good and the venue is very nice

Beware!

As per a previous review my nut roast came with a Yorkshire pudding despite me telling them I was a vegan. As my husband is a veggie I gave it to him but it’s concerning as the dish was marked VE. I’d expect it to mark it with a * or other note If it can be adapted to be vegan. They need to make it clear on the menu what’s vegan and what’s vegetarian

The prices appear to have shot up in recent months too. My dish cost £15. You do get a lot of food but I think that’s the top end of what I’d want to pay.

Good atmosphere overpriced food

The place is set into a cave so the atmosphere was really cool. We went for a Sunday roast and there were two items clearly marked vegan. Everything was advertised as coming with all the trimmings including Yorkshire pudding. When ours came it included a massive Yorkshire pudding which I questioned if it was vegan. I was told no and when I questioned why we had been served it the server said "you didn't say you were vegan". The dish was clearly marked vegan which I explained to the server. She offered to remove the Yorkshire pudding and that was it. There was no sign on menu to let the server know you're vegan. My concern is that there are unwitting vegans or milk/egg allery sufferers thinking everything on their plate is vegan and why should they question it if their dish is clearly marked vegan? The roast potatoes were not crispy and the carrots were hard. For £14 it was very overpriced.

Pros: Cool cave dining experience , Wine marked up as vegan

Cons: Overpriced, Served non vegan items

Perfect for a romantic night.

Classic pub setting out front, but out back is a beautiful restaurant, situated in a CAVE carved into Nottingham’s famous sandstone, complete with romantic lighting and nice decor. While not a huge amount of vegan food options, the food is absolutely 5-stars and was one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve had - their wine list is clearly marked for what is vegan (& vegetarian), huge amount of vegan wine options. Staff are very accommodating, and will mark you down in their system to ensure your food is handled carefully as vegan. If you’re based in Nottingham, or passing through as My wife & I were, this is an ideal restaurant to have a romantic date night. We can a main of the Sunday-menu Nutroast (huge plate with roast vegetables, some of the best food I’ve had in the last ten years), glass of vegan merlot, and followed by a warm vegan chocolate brownie with vegan icecream. Recommended that you book in advance as it’s a popular dining location. Little more on the pricier side, but fair given the quality of the food, venue, service and location - but ideal for special occasions. Cannot more highly recommend, honestly it deserves some awards.

Pros: AMAZING quality vegan food, 5-star., AMAZING unique atmosphere / location., Friendly & knowledgable staff.

Cons: Menu isn’t exhaustive, still plenty of options., If you don’t like caves, this is not for you.
