better near by - Edit
Hanams is somewhere you can go if you if you have friends who insist on meat.
Its mainly meaty and has a few veggie options, which are probably best covered by the tapas menu.
I had the okra bamya, which was fairly bland, although the breads were fantastic.
Pros: byob
Cons: meat
Amazing falafel! - Edit
Hanam's is a wonderful restaurant with the best falafel in Edinburgh. The staff have always been very conscientious and helpful each time i have eaten there. If you are gluten free make sure you ask for no wheat/pasta on the rice as it comes on top unless you ask them not to include it. They have really good hummus too. Definitely worth checking out during their lunch specials Monday-Thursdays.
Ditzy waitress didn't spoil it - Edit
Hanam's is not fully veggie, but the veggie items are at the front of the menu and there seems more of them than the meat options. The place itself is simply and tastefully decorated and in a great location. Now the first negative. Be very careful when pacing your order. The waitress who took ours brought us the wrong thing, TWICE, and mucked up the order for the next table as well. The food we ordered and got eventually got was really delicious. I am a big fan of felafel and Hanam's is as near to heavenly as I have ever had! All the dishes seem to come with bread, which is not great for the gluten intolerant, but it was fresh, warm and flaky in that wonderful Middle Eastern way. They do not serve alcohol here, but there is a selection of alcohol free wines and beers on the menu. The food was good value for its quality and freshness. It was early, but the place was very quiet on a Thursday evening. It deserves to be much better patronised, give it a try!
Pros: great food, something different, nice location
Cons: questionable service
